Environmental Stewardship Committee Offers Guidance on Backyard Composting

Amberley Village Environmental Stewardship Committee (ESC) has discussed at several meetings the benefits of Backyard Composting.

First let’s define what it is:  Composting is the natural process of recycling organic matter, such as leaves and food scraps, into a valuable fertilizer

Approximately 700 pounds of waste per household can be turned into compost instead of trash each year!

Reasons for starting composting in your backyard are:

·       Reduces Solid Waste and Landfills

·       Cuts Methane Emissions from Landfills

·       Improves Soil Health and Prevents Erosion

There are many easy ways to start your own program.  It can be as simple as tossing non-meat food scraps on the ground in an out-of-the way area of your yard.

To find out more just google search:  Tips for Beginning Backyard Composting.  Also Hamilton County has excellent info that can be googled with the search “Hamilton County OH Composting and via the button below:

Fire Prevention Week Sign Campaign

Amberley Village celebrates Fire Prevention Week all month long to remind residents of the imporatnace of fire safety and prevention.  Be sure and check smoke and CO2 Detectors, as well as devise an escape plan for your family - check out our website for some great resources and additional information!

Amberley Village Human Rights Commission (HRC) last year developed a campaign showcasing the Village as a community welcoming to all. These efforts were expanded at the recent Ice Cream Social, where yard signs were made available to residents wishing to join in the positive messaging to all who drive through our neighborhood. The yard signs are now available for pickup at the Administration window at the 7149 Ridge Road building. The signs are free of charge, and come in two sizes to meet the tastes and display preferences of our residents. The Human Rights Commission meets one Wednesday of every month in the Community Room at the Municipal Building. Check out the Village website HRC page and the calendar for more information.

Join Us for the October Meeting of Council!

Amberley Village Council meets on the second Monday of each month (unless there is a conflict). The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 12 at 6:30 pm, and will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, located at 7149 Ridge Road.
