Along with the change in season, there are exciting developments happening at Imagine! There are two workshops happening in October, so please feel free to share widely with friends. October is also the start of the new fall class schedule beginning on the 1st. It's always best to check the schedule online for updates and sign up for classes.

Intro to Tai Chi Workshop

Whether you are completely new to Tai Chi, or need to practice the fundamentals, learn about this "moving meditation" to help activate and stretch your muscles in a slow, gentle manner. Tai Chi has proven to reduce stress, improve balance, focus, memory and concentration and increase strength, flexibility and overall well-being. No special clothing or equipment are required.

Pregnancy and post-pregnancy (postpartum) are beautiful times in our lives when we must tune in and listen to the innate wisdom coming from within to guide, help, and heal us during the changes and stress that comes along with this time.

Meet our new front desk person and personal trainer, Maddie!
My name is Maddie, and I am a new personal trainer at Imagine Fitness and Yoga. I am new to Ann Arbor but so far I love it! 

I was a former cross country runner but sustained an injury that prevented me from running long distance. Instead, I became interested in other kinds of fitness, such as weight lifting, yoga, and cycling to help me stay fit (without stressing my existing injury). When I earned my personal training certificate, I learned about the importance of proper stretching and training in order to prevent injury. Therefore, my training style focuses on stretching, balance, and strength so you can live a pain free and healthy lifestyle! Feel free to stop by and say hi to me at the front desk!

Class taught: Circuit Level 1 on Mondays at 10:30am
Maddie's Monthly Fitness Tip:
Do you ever feel sluggish and tired by mid-afternoon? You can blame this on an increase in melatonin! The hormone melatonin is responsible for regulating your circadian rhythm and is stimulated by low lighting or a decrease in body temperature. An easy fix? Get up and step into the sun! You can go to a nearby bright window or take a break outside.

Along with melatonin, prolonged inactivity decreases blood flow (very common at desk jobs!) and can cause mental fatigue. By breaking up tasks and moving, blood flow can return to the brain and increase productivity!
Front Desk "Go To" Team
We are fortunate to have many wonderful instructors here at Imagine to guide clients in a variety of classes for strength & cardio training, yoga and Tai Chi.  Then there's the real engine running the show each day - our amazing front desk staff of Erin, Laura, Mona and Maddie.  While everyone knows how to do everything day to day, each person is a "Go To" leader in different areas. 
Problems and challenges with MindBody, the client/class interface?  Erin has mastered it all.  Loving all the creative flyers, mailers and social media posts?  Laura has developed a real knack in various software programs to make everything look great!  Mona keeps the ship running with substitute scheduling and restocking supplies and treats.  Our newest team member, Maddie, is a certified Personal Trainer.  She'll be covering the front desk, teaching a class here and there and is available to guide you in your workout in the gym or to schedule a personal training session. 
Imagine is grateful for the loyalty, commitment and professionalism all our staff share with us each day.
