It’s back-to-school season, and I just got schooled. Not exactly, but I'm learning as I grow Full Season Wellness. After two disheartening attempts to offer a 3-day menopause retreat that only a few supportive friends signed up for, I am changing gears. Sadly, I think we are all just TOO BUSY, and it is asking TOO MUCH of you to take a 3-day break from your life. So, look for new learning and gathering opportunities that fit more easily into your packed schedules. We’ll figure this out together, finding the balance somewhere between a total unplug (dream) and calendar Jenga collapse (nightmare).

Until the next season,

Amy

What’s happening in my body now and why?

As seasons change, allergies can ramp up. But the menopause season can also make allergies worse. Why? Estrogen modulates your immune system’s response to irritants or allergens. With lower estrogen and progesterone levels, you lose the hormones’ combined anti-inflammatory effects. You may experience itchy runny nose, congestion, itchy, dry eyes, worsening asthma, and itchy skin or worsening eczema. Try treating your symptoms with over-the-counter antihistamines, decongestants, saline nasal sprays, and hydrocortisone ointment or check in with your provider if you need prescription-strength relief. Good news is that the allergy mayhem seems to simmer down the further from perimenopause you get.

Check This Out.

The New York Times Well Newsletter had a great summary of what your favorite fitness trackers can and can't do for your menopause symptoms. TL;DR: They're great for tracking changes in cycle length over time, but other info may not be very helpful.
