Barnstable County Regional Substance Use Council (RSAC) monthly E-newsletter is a tether of communication across towns, providers, organizations, and individuals on Cape Cod providing information on substance use across the continuum of prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery.

Suicide Prevention Resources

In light of the recent local deaths by suicide, please see the following resources available to anyone needing help. The RSAC sends strength and support to all of the families and friends who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Effective programs and services exist, and help is available. If you or someone you know is having suicidal thoughts, reach out to one of the below numbers for a direct line to help. Note, there is a texting option through the Youth Crisis Support Free Text line and an online chat option through the Sharing Kindness website.

Are you a parent, teacher, or community member concerned about suicide in our towns? This open forum is designed to share local resources, offer support, and answer questions about what YOU can do around suicide awareness and education.

B Free Wellness Ongoing Recovery Meetings

B Free Wellness, Inc. holds a weekly Refuge Recovery meeting on Tuesdays at 6:30 PM. Refuge Recovery is a 1-hour Buddhist style approach to recovery meeting. The meeting format includes a 20-minute guided meditation, optional book reading and open sharing. All are welcome. B Free Wellness, Inc. also holds a weekly Women's Sharing Circle on Wednesdays at 7 PM via Zoom. This is an open discussion meeting for those who identify as female to discuss their healing journey. This meeting is open to women on any path of healing.

Common Thread

ASGCC is now offering a drop-in support group called Common Thread for people who use substances. Common Thread is a free and confidential virtual drop-in support group based on the harm reduction model. Attendees define their own recovery and abstinence is not a requirement. The virtual meeting is held weekly on Thursdays from 4-5pm. If you know someone who is interested or could benefit from participating, please email groups@asgcc.org or call 774-763-6656 and a Zoom link will be shared for participation.

Training announcement: Learning from Lived Experience: Understanding Barriers to Recovery

By sharing the experiences of people with substance use disorders, this event will illustrate barriers to care that prevent individuals from accessing addiction treatment and recovery services in Massachusetts. Participants in this 2-hour event will: hear experiences from people who have encountered barriers to treatment and recoveyr support services; understand how barriers to care impact people seeking treatment and recovey services; learn about current and potential solutions to reduce barriers; and participate in a discussion about action steps and approaches to improve the treatment ecosystem. This training will take place on March 10th from 9:00am to 11:00am. Click button to register.

Coping During the Covid Pandemic
