"Wonderful and heartfelt, I thank you for all your efforts."
"A good mix of tradition and new elements."
"It gripped my heart and moved me in so many ways."
"Simple and elegant."
"Powerful."
These are just some of the comments people have been telling me to relay to you about the youth-led Good Friday tenebrae worship service. Friends, it was such a moving experience this year and I'm so proud of every one of you. I thought Jacy and Ali had amazing witness to the Gospel with their sermons, and Savannah and Sawyer's video was an inspiring testament to our desire for freedom. The music was wonderful, people knew their roles and did them well. Evelyn was a dynamite reader. And I was so proud of all of you for adding the chorus of many voices of Jesus on the margins for my sermon. People were challenged by it and walked out glad you raised those voices.
Thank you!
Okay, lots to get to today, including a new lock-in coming up. Thing is, if we're going to do it we need registration NOW so we can get advanced tickets before they sell out! Firm deadline of April 15, so get to it. And yes, we need a parent driver, please!
I also know many of you have TALKED about registering for the mission trip and LYFE Camp but few of you have ACTUALLY done it! Friends, they really need our head counts asap so please get it done, and thanks!
This Sunday night we're talking about LGBT justice in the church as a youth group and next week we're hearing from Pastor Judy about it. We'll craft some questions we want to ask her this week, too. Parents, you're invited to Pastor Judy's session on April 15, see you there!
In Christ,
Rev. Nate Melcher
Associate Pastor
