Succession Planning:
Real World Stories on Main Street
Learn more about succession planning from Clayton Wendt, Sunbelt Business Brokers, at the next installment of the Small Business Forum.

Every small business will eventually have to transition to a new leader.  About one-third will go to a family member or long-time employee.  Another third to a vendor or competitor.  And the last third to an outside buyer not known to the business prior to the deal.

No matter which plan you choose, you need to consider nearly the same critical issues.  We will discuss:
1. How to be sure you will realize the proceeds you need to fund your next phase of life.
2. How to protect the business from damage caused by the transition or worse, the rumors of transition.
3. How to be sure the new leader has the skills and values needed to assure success and protect your name and employees into the future.

Gibbs Farm: Pathways to Dakota & Pioneer Life
2016 Season

The Gibbs Farm is excited to offer new programs as well as returning favorites for the 2016 Season. The new program series, A Pioneer Woman, offers visitors of all ages a glimpse of the craft and kitchen heritage of the pioneer women who settled, farmed and raised families in the early years of Minnesota.

Returning favorites include the ever-popular Gibbs Halloween, with costumes and trick-or-treating, crafts, fun and food in the historic buildings of Gibbs Farm; the Apple Festival, that explores the heritage of apple growing in Minnesota with presentations and tours with master gardeners, along with apple crafts, fun and food; and Dakota Day, celebrating the rich contributions of the Dakota, Minnesota's First People, to our state with language presentations, crafts, food and more.

#WelcomeHome
Sunrise Banks is partnering with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity to build a home in our neighborhood!

Located at 295 Charles Street in the Frogtown neighborhood, this home will be in the heart of our community.

The Midway Chamber of Commerce is supporting this effort by joining forces to swing a hammer or paint a wall.

We will work with Sunrise Banks to coordinate 17 volunteers a day from July 25-July 28.  You can join our team as an individual or as an organization. Sunrise Banks will provide food and beverages each of the days which run from 8:30 AM-4:00 PM.

Cannot donate your time? Click here to support this ambitious effort through a financial pledge.

To volunteer or learn more about the build, please contact Terri Banaszewski at  [email protected].

More information on this project can also be found  here.

This is an exceptional way we can come together to support two fellow members.
