Leadership Summit at Augsburg College
The Midway Chamber is proud to once again host the Leadership Summit at Augsburg College. This half day event is full of great information you can take back to the office.

Jodi Harpstead, CEO at Lutheran Social Service of MN presents:
150 Years of Learning to Live Together - Midway in our Journey?
Prior to serving as Lutheran Social Services CEO, Jodi spent 23 years with Medtronic, Inc where she held significant positions including President of Global Marketing and U.S. Sales in the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division. An exceptional leader, she has volunteered in leadership capacities for a variety of other organizations. Her perspective and insights on compassion and competence to make a difference help serve the connection between the business and nonprofit sectors of Minnesota's economy.
The Leadership Summit includes admission to one of these sessions:

iOpt Leadership Analysis: Tom Morgan, Professor of Leadership Studies at Augsburg College
Input Output Processing Template (iOpt), analyzes how people take in information and how they act on it. Co-workers and team members may have different styles but each adds an important aspect to strategy development and decision-making.

ICS Workshop: Joanne Reeck, Chief Diversity Officer at Augsburg College
The Intercultural Conflict Styles (ICS) Inventory Workshop is  designed to help individuals continue to grow in their intercultural competence and to build the awareness, knowledge, and skills necessary to create more inclusive spaces in the workplace and beyond.

Cybersecurity:
Protecting Your Business in the Digital Age
Join Mendoza Law and the Midway Chamber of Commerce on May 13 for
Part I of a four-part quarterly series, Cybersecurity: Protecting Your Business in the Digital Age.  According to a recent global study of 350 organizations conducted by IBM and the Ponemon Institute, the average total cost of a data breach in 2015 was $3.79 million, with the average cost of a single stolen or lost record at $154.00.  As most of us today know, the threat is real-as are the potential costs.

At our first session, Understanding the Threat, get an insider's perspective from a member of the FBI's Cyber Squad on:
  • What exactly is a cyber-attack?
  • What kind of data do attackers target?
  • What can a cyber-attack look like?
  • How often do attacks occur?
  • When, or how, will you know if you have been targeted-or hit?
  • What kinds of companies or organizations are at risk - does company size matter?
  • What are potential vulnerabilities for a company or organization?
  • How great is the cyber-threat in the Twin Cities?
The program will conclude with a Q&A session and a preview of upcoming sessions focusing on tools, preventive measures and response strategies you can employ to combat cyber-attack and data breach.

Joy of the People is a 501 (c)(3) that promotes the idea of soccer free play as a way to build healthy kids and communities.  In 2009, JOTP partnered with the City of St. Paul to provide programming at South St. Anthony Rec center where we created an inviting environment of play.  In 2012, we provided more than 1,200 hours of safe monitored Free Play soccer  for kids of all ages at no cost. At JOTP, we believe that soccer should be inclusive, fun, creative, and cooperative long before it becomes competitive, growing their love of the game, discovering the Joy of play, Joy of friendship, Joy of creativity, and the Joy of the people.
