Grand openings are among my favorite milestones here at Avesta. We invite residents, partners, staff, and neighbors to join us on-site in an exciting culmination of the many years of planning and implementation that led to the creation of new affordable homes. It brings me great joy to hear from residents who have found a safe, quality place to live in their community. I also appreciate the opportunity to thank our many partners and staff who help make our work a reality.
On Sept. 17, Avesta Housing will host a grand opening celebration of River Turn Apartments in Conway, N.H. Providing 40 new apartments for individuals and families, River Turn is the first of up to four planned buildings that will bring a total of more than 150 homes to the Mount Washington Valley region, and is further testament to Avesta’s commitment to provide safe, quality, affordable homes to the state.
Avesta has a long history of helping provide affordable housing in New Hampshire dating to the early 1980s, when we served as a consultant to other organizations. In 2015, we opened One Meeting Place in Exeter, the first property we fully developed, owned, and managed in the state. In fact, One Meeting Place’s grand opening was the very first grand opening I attended at Avesta, and I can remember how impactful the experience was for me! Now, with the addition of River Turn, we have nine properties with a combined total of more than 300 affordable homes in New Hampshire.
New Hampshire needs 60,000 housing units by 2030 to meet the needs of its residents. Avesta is working with partners around the state to help address this challenge. We will continue to build on our 40-year history of working in the state and our strong relationships with key partners to help ensure that everyone in the Granite State has a safe, quality, affordable place to call home.
I invite you to join us on Sept. 17 as we celebrate the River Turn community and our ongoing commitment to the creation of affordable housing in New Hampshire.
