Construction update: Edgewater Village & Seavey Crossing

At Edgewater Village in Farmington, Maine, exterior walls, windows, and the roof have been installed, and work is underway on interior framing, plumbing, insulation, and the electrical and HVAC systems. We anticipate opening for residents in 2026.

Footings have been poured for Seavey Crossing in Westbrook, Maine, and the foundation slab will be poured in July. The building is scheduled to be ready for residents in summer 2026 and will be part of the Seavey campus, which also includes Seavey Terraces and a future building that will be our first Domus property for middle-income homebuyers.

Both Edgewater Village and Seavey Crossing will provide quality, affordable rental homes for ages 55 and older.

Feelin' fine in the summertime

After way too many rainy spring days, Avesta welcomed summer earlier this week with an outdoor barbecue at Hyacinth Place and Steeple Square in Westbrook. Residents were treated to hot-off-the-grill food, games, music, a bouncy house, face painting, and more! Many thanks to our partners who assisted with the event: The Locker Project, Westbrook Schools Nutrition Services, Westbrook Community Policing, Girl Scouts of Maine, My Place Teen Center, and Westbrook Police Department Recovery Liaison Missy Esty.

Avesta celebrates NeighborWorks Week

From June 7-14, Avesta Housing joined nearly 250 organizations throughout the U.S. in observance of NeighborWorks Week, a celebration of volunteers, business partners, and civic leaders who create opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, build financial stability, and strengthen communities. This year’s theme was “Creating Homes, Building America.”

In related news, Avesta Housing Associate Development Officer Heather Latham was one of 17 leaders from different NeighborWorks America organizations to participate in NeighborWorks’ 2025 Advancing Leaders in Real Estate cohort in Washington, D.C. Said Heather, “The training was rich with real-life lessons from experienced developers, and it was great to connect with peers working on a wide range of projects from different parts of the country.”
