Please join Avisery and Legal Council for Health Justice to learn about spousal impoverishment protection and estate recovery in Illinois Medicaid.
Medicaid’s Spousal Impoverishment Protection (SIP) provision make it possible for an individual who needs a nursing home level of care to qualify for Medicaid while allowing their married spouse to retain a modest amount of income and resources.
Estate Recovery is the process by which the state can recoup Medicaid-related costs from a deceased beneficiary's estate.
Our presenter will be Meghan Carter, a senior attorney at Legal Council for Health Justice. Meghan is a legal aid attorney who focuses on Medicaid policy and advocacy, including improvements to estate recovery. This free webinar will cover the basics of spousal impoverishment protection and Medicaid estate recovery, including recent reforms to reduce disparities in Illinois.
