We return to our program-year worship schedule. At both services, we offer Sunday School for children 3 years through 7th grade, and an adult-supervised nursery. Spirited Traditional Worship at 9 AM: we welcome back our choir. Kelly Brill's sermon, "Christian Unity in a Polarized World," is based upon Matthew 18:15-20. New Horizon Worship at 11 AM: we welcome back our Anchored in Faith worship band and celebrate Confirmation!
Children are invited to bring their backpacks to Children's Time for our blessings of the backpacks. Our Faith Formation team is passing out carabiners to the children too!
SUNDAY SCHOOL: Our adult-supervised Noah's Nursery is available for children 6 weeks to 3 years old beginning 15 minutes before each service. Sunday School for children ages 3 to 7th grade follows the Children's Time Message.

All Teams Meetings
Reminder that all teams meet this Tuesday, Sept 12 at 7:00 PM.

Sunday School Registration
Registration is not required to attend Sunday School, which is open to members and non-members of the church. However, filling out one of these very short forms allows us to estimate attendance with a greater degree of accuracy, helping to reduce waste and better schedule volunteers for the upcoming year. Sunday School will be more dynamic and fun than ever, and I am excited to get back into the full swing of the program year! You can fill out the registration form ONLINE by following the link: https://avonlakeucc.breezechms.com/form/8f0024
Next Sunday, September 17th is the Bible Presentation to 3rd Graders
If you are interested in joining our Adult Volunteer Teaching Team please register here via Sign-Up Genius. As always, if you have questions about the program (or anything else!) you can always reach out via email or phone. Grace and Peace to you! - Beau Dansizen

Neighbors in Need
The Neighbors in Need (NIN) is a special mission offering of the UCC which ALUCC will begin receiving on September 10. One-third of NIN funds support the Council for American Indian Ministry (CAIM). Two-thirds of the offering is used by UCC Justice and Witness Ministries to support justice initiatives, advocacy efforts, and direct service projects through grants.
Neighbors in Need grants are awarded to churches and organizations doing justice work in their communities. These grants fund projects whose work ranges from direct service to community organizing and advocacy to address issues such as the federal budget, voting rights, immigration, health care, hate crimes, civil liberties, environmental justice, hunger and poverty.
The 2017 theme for Neighbors in Need is "Protect the Sacred: In a Just World, Clean Water is Life." Offering envelopes will be found in the pews beginning September 10. Donations will be accepted in the office through September 23. Thank you!

Please join us in the Chapel Saturday, September 16 at 6:00 PM to watch the Oscar nominated movie Hidden Figures, starring Kevin Costner, Taraji Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae. This is a story of a team of female mathematicians who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations of U.S. history. Based on true life stories, the three women, known as 'human computers', rose in the ranks at NASA, alongside many of history's greatest minds, specifically tasked with calculating the momentous launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit and guaranteeing his safe return.
Please bring a dish to pass to feed at least four or more people. Family and friends are also welcome! Plates, silverware, beverages and Popcorn are always provided. PLEASE SIGN UP at the Welcome Center so we know how many to set up for. Should you have any questions, please contact Teri Ann Jasany at 440-864-2597. We look forward to seeing you there!

4th Tuesday Book Club
September 26, Resource Room, 7:00 PM
Cry, the Beloved Country by Alan Paton
The Book Club's last read was part one of Paton's autobiography
and we found it so beautifully done we opted to read Cry, the Beloved Country, his 1948 classic, which we had all read before.
Set in South Africa, the book explores the racial divisions that ultimately led to apartheid.
This book is both timely and timeless. Please join us.
