Christmas Day
We will gather Sunday at 10:00 AM to celebrate Christmas together. Join us for songs of praise. There will not be Children's Time or Sunday School or Nursery.
Sunday, January 1 - One service of worship at 10:00 AM
Sunday, January 8, we return to our 9:00 and 11:00 AM worship schedule, and will be offering the Sacrament of Holy Communion as we begin our new worship series entitled, "Be the Church."

All are welcome to join us on Christmas Eve.
We offer four worship services at 5, 7, 9, 11 PM.
5:00 - Service especially designed for families with young children; projections, the Christmas story, and music by the Celebration Bell Choir;
7:00 - Candlelight, Meditation by Senior Minister Kelly Brill, projections, and music led by the Anchored in Faith worship band.
9:00 - Candlelight, Meditation by Senior Minister Kelly Brill, lessons and carols, and music led by the Choir.
11:00 - Candlelight, Meditation by Senior Minister Kelly Brill, the Sacrament of Holy Communion, and music led by singer Anne E. DeChant and guitarist Pete Cavano.

- BLOOD DRIVE ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 10 IN OUR FELLOWSHIP HALL (3:00 until 8:00 p.m.): Donate Blood in honor of Piper Samuels. Five year old Piper was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma and is undergoing chemotherapy as part of her treatment. Her treatment requires transfusions of blood and platelets. Help save lives by donating blood in honor of Piper. Help Piper crush cancer! Register to give blood on line at www.redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code "ALUCC". Or sign up at the Welcome Center.

Avon Lake UCC Inclement Weather Policy
In case of inclement weather or a power outage, Avon Lake UCC will communicate in the following manner:
1 - Decisions will be made about events at least two hours before the start time of each event. Cancellations will be published on the church's Facebook and Twitter.
2 - Church members who are coordinating events: if you are cancelling your event, please contact Tim Schulz or Kelly Brill so they can publish the cancellation.
3 - Worship will only be cancelled if the church has no power and/or if there is a driving ban in effect.
4 - During regular business hours, the office personnel can be contacted by phone and they will be able to answer questions about which events have been cancelled.
5 - Nate Taylor will decide on Waypoint Youth Ministries cancellations and announce via many social media outlets.

IHN - Family Promise
Looking ahead - 2017
Our first hosting for IHN/Family Promise is the week of January 15. The sign-up board will be up in the Narthex
beginning Sunday, Dec 25.
There is only one family in the program at present, but a new case manager has just been hired so there should be more people by Jan 15. The next volunteer training will be in March - details TBA - in time for the next hosting April 23. Thank you for your dedication to serving these homeless families.

Due to our 10:00 AM only worship schedule and allowing for everyone to spend time enjoying their holidays, there will not be a Roundtable on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. We look forward to catching up January 8!
The Sunday Roundtable meets weekly in the Conference Room (next to the nursery) about 15 minutes after the ending of the 9:00 worship. The time is geared to allow people time for Fellowship before the informal Sunday Roundtable gathering. This is a discussion about the scripture and the message of the day. It usually lasts about an hour, but people are welcome to come and go to attend 11:00 worship or Sunday School, as needed.
