"This is Just the Beginning"
Christmas Sunday
John 1: 1 - 4

The Word of Life
1 We declare to you what was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— 2 this life was revealed, and we have seen it and testify to it, and declare to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us— 3 we declare to you what we have seen and heard so that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4 We are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.

The Twelve Days of Christmas!
Have you ever heard of the Twelve Days of Christmas? The season of Advent ended with the coming of Christmas and now we are in the season of Christmas, also known as the Twelve Days of Christmas. This begins on December 25 and ends on January 6 with Epiphany, sometimes know as Three Kings Day, a day when we remember the visit from the three Wise Men and the gifts they brought Jesus.

Hip Hip Hooray!
You heard that right! We celebrate Christmas for TWELVE days! Not just one! SO turn up your Christmas music, continue reading and learning more about the Christmas story and celebrating Jesus coming to be with you!

How can you continue to celebrate?
All through Advent we prepared for Christmas by learning about hope, peace, joy and love and how we can share those with others. In what ways can you share the hope, peace, joy and love of Jesus with your neighbors, family, friends, teachers and community workers? Continue celebrating Christmas by the giving of your time and creativity to others!

Prayer
Dear God, Thank you for the gift of Jesus and the hope, peace, joy and love he brought to our world. Amen.
Member Care Corner

Your energy, compassion, creativity, ability to transition and re-envision, love for God, our church family and neighbors shone through the darkness! Thank a leader today for their commitment to Avondale and the Kingdom with a quick phone call or hand written note!

Lunches for Homeless Neighbors continues this winter!

Our first three Lunches for Homeless Neighbors events were a great success--it was so good to see each other, and to provide some much-needed help for the 70 working men at the Roof Above dorm. Each time, the men were so appreciative of our efforts. We now have three additional dates, on December 29, January 26, and February 23. Please take a look and sign up! You now have the opportunity to serve as a "Lunch Leader," which simply requires getting the groceries (Mission team will reimburse), leading the assembly, and taking the lunches over to the dorm in the Elizabeth neighborhood. This season, when Room in the Inn will unfortunately not be at Avondale, let's continue to join together and help our homeless neighbors!
