1 Timothy 6:17-19

17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19 In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
Our Stewardship giving campaign kicked-off last Sunday, September 13!
Thank you to all who came by to pick-up their 2021 Stewardship packet. If you were not able to make it, please watch your mail for your packet sent this week. Your 2021 Pledge Card is inside. Please take the next few weeks to read the letter included in your packet, hear Rev. Jim Ewing's sermons on stewardship and prayerfully consider your gift to Avondale for the coming year. We ask you to please return your completed pledge card to Avondale on or before Dedication Sunday on October 4, 2020. Thank you!
Children's Moment
Parents, read over the lesson below and use it to stir conversation as a family!
In todays lesson we learn that God commands us to be "rich in good deeds and generous and willing to share." God wants us to use our gifts and talents to help others and most importantly to tell others about His love! When we are generous with all that we have, we are focused on others and not on ourselves. God tells us in 1 Timothy 6:19 that when we do this, "we may take hold of the life that is truly life."

Last week we talked about this being the Stewardship season. A time when we look back at all we have and make a commitment to God and the church on what we will give and how we will help in the coming year.

Parents and caregivers, spend some time talking with your children and explain why you give to the church in the ways that you do.

Let Us Pray
Dear God, help me to have a generous heart, focusing my energy and gifts on You and those I can help. Amen.

Surprise a member who may need a helping hand in the yard, or a fresh fall flower on their porch, or a warm pumpkin coffee to brighten their day. The list of opportunities is endless!
If you know of any member concerns or needs, please email Jim.
