  Dear

Our yoga teaching staff (and schedule) is growing!

In the past few months, we've welcomed Angie Becker and Mindy Griggs. Angie is a sweet yogi who teaches a peaceful Balance & Restore class Thursday evenings, 6:30-7:30pm. She's planning a "the wall as prop" class in October and will be teaching yoga to a Girl Scout Troop for their Wellness Badge in November. Mindy is an enthusiastic teacher who holds class several mornings a week. She teaches an intermediate level class Friday mornings and will be leading a Partner Yoga workshop, Sunday, Sept. 25, 5:30-7:30pm.

This month, we welcome Gail Herzog. Gail recently completed her 200-hour training at Studio Gaia and will be teaching after-school yoga on Tuesdays, 3:30-4:30pm, starting Sept. 13. She's also introducing us to her passion, Yoga Nidra. Don't know what that is? You can read about it here. Her first class is Saturday, Sept. 24, 12:30-2:00pm.

AND, we have two student teachers - Sasha Macaraeg and Dawn Gibson - who will be alternating teaching a 9-10am Saturday class, beginning Sept. 17 or 24 (keep an eye on our FB page). Cost will be just $5. Sasha and Dawn will graduate from YTT in November.

We announced last month that we're increasing the cost of the drop-in classes (but individual class cost is reduced if you buy a multi-class card). Later, we realized that our senior students may have a more limited income. We know the benefits of yoga as we age, so we've decided to keep the $10 drop-in/$40 4-class card option open to them.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is coming up and digital imaging can detect breast cancer earlier. We're making arrangements to have this service at the studio. Read how Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging works and give us a call to sign up or with any questions.

Have fun with belly dance! Katie Belakhoua is back with her popular class! Read what you'll learn each month here.

Mark your calendars! Here's a sneak peek into what's coming up. Watch for details on Facebook and in the newsletters.

massageAwaken to Your True Self Through Yoga Nidra

Did you know that yoga can be practiced without performing physical exercise? Were you aware that meditation can be done lying down, comfortably supported instead of sitting up still and straight like a statue? What if doing so gave you a personal understanding of the core principles of yoga and resulted in living happily, peacefully and with meaning and purpose - without stress?

Welcome to Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra (which means "yogic sleep") is a powerful form of yoga practiced for thousands of years as a process of awakening to one's True Self, the indestructible center in each of us that is already peaceful, joyful, wise, soulful, luminous and loving.

How is it practiced?
Using specialized relaxation exercises, breathing techniques, meditation and guided imagery, the teacher will lead you far beyond deep relaxation to a place of natural peace and quiet that is tremendously healing.

The first stage of relaxation brings about a calm mind while the body feels heavy and deeply relaxed. During the second stage, you'll experience an inner stillness. As relaxation progresses, the heaviness lifts and you'll begin to feel light and buoyant. It is somewhat like lingering in the interval between being awake and asleep. Eventually, you will be able to remain alert and aware with a spacious, timeless feeling that is extremely peaceful while your mind and body sleep.

What will I experience?
At its minimum, Yoga Nidra will lead you to experience profound relaxation, the release of chronic stress, restful sleep, resolution to many of your life's conundrums and a greater sense of harmony in your daily life and relationships.

In its ultimate revelation, Yoga Nidra points directly to your True Nature, to peace that is beyond description and that is your birthright. This peace is not an empty promise or only for a selected few but is present and available to you right now. It is a delicious, profoundly healing practice that is available to everybody.

All are warmly welcomed. No yoga experience necessary.

bellydancing Increase Your Chances of Detecting Breast Cancer

If you're a woman reading this, you know how uncomfortable a mammogram can be. There's another, less painful and just as effective, method of detecting breast cancer.

Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging is a 15-minute non-invasive test of physiology and a valuable procedure for alerting your doctor to changes that can indicate early stage breast disease.

DITI detects the subtle physiologic changes that accompany breast pathology, whether it is cancer, fibrocystic disease or an infection. This test provides a 'clinical marker' to the doctor or mammographer that a specific area of the breast needs close examination. Your doctor can then lay out a careful program to further diagnose and/or monitor you during and after any treatment.

The procedure:
  • is non-invasive and painless
  • uses no radiation
  • has no contact with body
  • is FDA registered
The first session provides the baseline of your "thermal signature" and a subsequent session assures that the patterns remain unchanged.

All of your thermograms (breast images) are kept on record and once your stable thermal pattern has been established, any changes can be detected during your routine annual studies. Results are reported by certified doctors and include all color images taken during your test.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women. Don't take the chance of missing an early sign of this disease.

Call Be Well Now at 462-3900 for more information and to find out when the DITI technician will be at the studio.
