Jacqui Lewis asks -

What if every human being is anointed, Messiahed, Christ? What if the most fundamental aspect of our identity is that we are each anointed and appointed by The Holy One, by Spirit—to preach good news to the poor, liberty to the captive, and sight to the blind? What if we take seriously being the Body of the Christ—that we are the hands, feet, and heartbeat of the Living God? What if we are Word made flesh, Love made flesh, Light made flesh?

Don't you think that would be a great place to start our conversation at AwakeningSoul this November?

A WAKENING S OUL 2019

Presence, Deep Listening, and Discernment

November 7-10, 2019
Lutheridge Conference Center
Asheville, NC

Ed Bacon experienced Jacqui at Richard Rohr's Universal Christ Conference earlier this month. He has this to say -

Rev. Jacqui Lewis is this holy, unique Walking Event Of Love. Her lens of God-is-Love helps her keep hope alive, engage in energetically vibrant justice-action, and critique what crucifies Christ in contemporary life. Those who experience her at AwakeningSoul will be forever changed for the better.

Jacqui is a fierce advocate and fighter for human rights. You will find her on the front line fighting against white supremacy and challenging immigration and border policies. You will find her fighting for health care, LGBTQIA+ rights, and equal rights for women and all marginalized folks. Jacqui's advocacy is the result of listening deeply to the pain of the world, listening for the will of God, and discerning how she is called to respond. She is a passionate preacher drawing on her deep faith and her belief that we are all - ALL - made in God's image.

On the Sunday morning of the Revolutionary Love: The Politics of Faith Conference Jacqui recently preached about "another" Exodus story, this one in Isaiah. Jacqui said it is a story told through the lens of Love. Isaiah describes God's relationship with her people. " Everybody is my people. Are you human? Then you are mine. I love you exactly as you are."

She then went on to talk about being a part of the social justice movement. I paraphrase, " We can't stop moving because we aren't perfect. We can't say he or she can't be a part of this movement because they are not _______ enough. We live in this world afraid. We are fearful. Fear makes us fragile, makes us tentative, makes us hyper-vigilant about who is and who isn't 'my people'. Too much energy is going toward figuring out who is in and who is out. We need one another to move this thing forward. Let's do this better, y'all. "

Jacqui Lewis is truly a powerhouse and you are going to want to spend time with her. Her energy, her passion, her insights, and her spirit are contagious - come join the conversation.
