Award for Christian Baldini premiere of Strasnoy Opera
We are delighted to announce that  Requiem by Oscar Strasnoy which premiered at Teatro Colon in June 2014  under the baton of Christian Baldini has received the Argentinian Music Critics  Award for Best Opera Production and Best Set design .  Each year, reflecting on the past season, The Association of Argentinian Music Critics selects a winner in each of the fourteen separate categories. We were also delighted that in addition Mitsuko Uchida was also a winner (Best Foreign Soloist category) . Other winners included  Marta Argerich, Daniel Barenboim and the Bayerischer Rundfunk Orchester.
 

Following his successful debut at Teatro Colon conducting the world-premiere of Requiem Baldini will return in December 2015 to conduct 2001: A Space Odyssey as part of the theatre's contemporary programme and in 2016 to conduct a Dallapiccola double-bill.

Christian Baldini, has recently been working closely with Michael Tilson Thomas. He is currently cover Conductor at the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra,  where following two successful family concerts last  December and January, he also took part in two subscription concerts in March this year when he conducted John Luther Adams'  The Light that Fills the World and Charles Ives' The Unanswered Question  (with Thomas Ad?s).  He returns to work with the Orchestra in May.
