Abass Baraou Wants That Title Feeling Back; Line Forms with Giovani Santillan

Knowing what it’s like to be a world champion, Abass Baraou is intent on recapturing that sense of accomplishment as soon as he can.
Until then, he’s confronting the toll of going back in line, to prove his mettle against contenders still yearning for what he had.
That’s the nut of Friday night’s ProBoxTV main event at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside, California, where Germany’s recent WBA titlist Baraou, 17-2 (9 KOs), meets San Diego’s own highly ranked junior-middleweight Giovani Santillan, 35-1 (18 KOs).
Baraou was defeated January 31 by recent unified champion Xander Zayas in Puerto Rico, a split-decision that agonized and also brought lessons for the 31-year-old to embrace.
