Massachusetts is rich in arts & culture, so it's no surprise that exciting events, exhibits and festivals are held in the state's 16 regions all year long. Find out more!
Falling for Autumn
Cranberries, pumpkins and falling leaves create the perfect motif for October in Massachusetts. Try the Cranberry Harvest Festival at Edaville Family Theme Park in Carver, or the Pumpkin Festival at Morning Glory Farm on Martha's Vineyard.  For foliage, you can't go wrong along the Mohawk Trail or anywhere in Massachusetts! Perhaps the most colorful display this month is the annual Honk! Festival of Activist Street Bands in Somerville and Cambridge, an amazing gathering of bands from around the world. Plus, there's jazz in Northampton, oysters in Wellfleet, OctoberFest at Wachusett Mountain - so many reasons to visit Massachusetts!

The 52nd Annual Juried Art Show & Festival will be held at the Plymouth Center for the Arts through November 2! View amazing art from artists throughout New England and cast your vote for the most popular, determined by ballot vote of art show attendees. Located just steps from Plymouth Rock in the historic Plymouth village district, the center's distinctive location and elegant galleries are the perfect settings for this iconic fine arts tradition. This is an open show and all artists are invited to submit unique, imaginative, and creative works, in all media types, of any them. .Categories include: Drawing & Pastel, Oil/Acrylic, Watercolor, Sculpture, Mixed Media, Printmaking, Color Photography, B&W Photography,  & Fine Crafts. Southeastern Mass

Just when you thought the home of the infamous Lizzie Borden murders couldn't get any more mysterious...join spirit medium Tiffany Rice for an evening of ghostly connections! The spectacularly spooky event will take place on Monday, October 28 from 5:30 to 9 pm. The evening will include a tour of the famous house, dinner and a gallery reading. The Berkshires

Join us for the Pittsfield CityJazz Festival, a signature fall event in the Berkshires! This year, the festival will be held October 11-20 within the Upstreet Cultural District in Pittsfield. In its 15th year, the festival highlights a rare pairing of mother-daughter vocalists Stephanie Nakasian and Veronica Swift; Cuban piano standout Dayramir Gonzalez; jazz prodigy Anton Kot; a "jazz crawl" that features local musicians in downtown venues; jazz brunches and more. Music lovers, it is time to head to the Berkshires!

Greater Merrimack Valley

Concord Collects, a new exhibition starting October 11 at the Concord Musum, will feature 20 remarkable works of art from four distinctive Concord private collections. Works include ancient Chinese Tang and Song ceramics, striking colonial portraits of men, women and children (one by John Singleton Copley), and work by accomplished and influential 19th-century American painters. Concord Collects will be the first exhibition to be presented in the Concord Museum following the construction of the Anna and Neil Rasmussen Education Center and renovations to the Gund and Little buildings.

Franklin County
The 25th Annual CiderDays will be held November 1-3 throughout Franklin County! This original craft cider festival features cider making and tastings, workshops, orchard tours, culinary demonstrations and much more in orchards and venues county-wide. Don't miss the Cider Salons under the big tent in Turners Falls with over 120 ciders to taste and cider producers from around the world to meet! Greater Boston
Boston is a symphony of color, festivals, performing arts and exhibits all October long. Opera fans can enjoy Pagliacci, through a carnival-style installation that mirrors the "play within a play," while The Lion King roars into town and SpongeBob SquarePants, The Musical also entertains. RENT returns in a 20th anniversary touring production, the provocative The Peculiar Patriot delivers a shrewd indictment of the criminal justice system, and 7 Fingers' Passengers takes you on an unforgettable ride. The horrifying beauty of Hyman Bloom's paintings and drawings are on display at the MFA. LOVE IS CALLING, the immersive work of artist Yayoi Kusama Infinity Mirror Rooms, can be viewed at the ICA, and museum-goers can explore Hans Hoffman journey into abstraction and his influence on American modern art. Bookmark the Boston Book Fair, make plans for HUBweek, stake out a spot for the Head of the Charles and get ready for Halloween festivities!

Cape Cod
Dig into fresh seafood, German fare and haunted happenings at these upcoming Fall festivals! The pearl of Cape Cod's seafood is undoubtedly the Wellfleet oyster, and on October 19-20 fans from the Cape and beyond flock to Wellfleet Oyster Festival to feast on the celebrated shellfish. Chatham Oktoberfest (October 26) features old-fashioned games, tasty German fare & beer, and live music at Kate Gould Park, where the wildly creative Pumpkin People in the Park will also be on full display. Provincetown is always throwing a party, and Halloween is one of the biggest. The annual Halloween in Provincetown (October 31-November 3) includes adult dance parties, a festive parade, spooky evening tours, costume balls and more. Greater Springfield
Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany set the stage for the world to pair the month of October with, well, beer! Western Mass celebrates this time in full fashion from outdoor fairs to Oktoberfest celebrations. The Greater Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau alongside Table & Vine will host OctoBEER on October 19 from 1 to 4 pm at the Table & Vine Flagship store in West Springfield. Join us along with local craft brewers for a tasting and a toast to the Autumn season. The Springfield Museums will celebrate with the event "The Art of The Brew" on October 3 from 5 to 8 pm. Hampshire County
In Hampshire County, we do fall well! Sure, the foliage is fabulous, but did you know that we turn up the volume on live performance and cultural happenings as temperatures drop? Jazz abounds during the Northampton Jazz Festival featuring headliner Kurt Elling on Saturday, October 5 at the Academy of Music. Explore the Working Weavers Studio Trail October 19 and 20 in pastoral Belchertown. And don't miss this year's Surrealist Cabaret, an autumnal ramble through Park Hill Orchard (go early for Art in the Orchard and stay late for hot cider). Johnny Appleseed 
Fall fun is in full swing in Johnny Appleseed Country! Check out the Horseshed Fair in Lancaster, the Cracker Festival in Westminster, or Winchendon's Fall Festival for a taste of down-home seasonal celebration. Or head to Wachusett Mountain Ski Area on October 5-6 for an OktoberFest featuring German music, stein-hosting and keg tossing - then return on the 19th & 20th for an AppleFest and Apple Pie Contest. Love apples? Don't miss the Harvest Festival Weekend at Sholan Farms in Leominster on Columbus Day weekend; it's filled with family fun!

Bring your appetite to the Kiwanis Taste of Natick on Wednesday, October 2 at the Hampton Inn in Natick! On October 5: The 10th annual Arts in Common Festival on the Town Green, sponsored by the Westborough Cultural Council; Marlborough Brewers Association Oktoberfest with Schweinebraten, Würstl, live music, German Dance and a Stein Holding Competition; the Franklin Downtown Partnership Harvest Festival featuring music, food, crafts, giveaways, beer, wine and more; and Downtown Framingham Oktoberfest a four-hour, half-mile celebration of public art, live music, fun programming, local food, small business & more. Then, on October 17, SKYBOKX 109 Sports Bar & Grill in Natick hosts the 6th Annual Craftacular Beer Tasting, with local and national craft brewers. Enjoy beer tastings from 10 breweries!
