How often does Broward County birth a world premier new musical? This month it has! Now & Then is a musical about two men, one love, and four decades. The music style is folk with a little bit of country. The actors play guitar on stage creating an intimate experience. Six actors, three guitars, one same sex couple. Follow the lives of Daniel and Greg over the course of 40 years together. The show is crisp, funny, and touching. You will laugh, you will cry, you will be captured as you share their life's journey.

Lawrence Jameson makes his lavish living by talking rich ladies out of their money. Freddy Benson more humbly swindles women by waking their compassion with fabricated stories about his grandmother's failing health. After meeting on a train, they attempt to work together, only to find that their small town isn't big enough for both of them. They agree on a settlement - the first one to extract $50,000 from their mutual target, young heiress Christine Colgate, wins, and the other must leave town.

Sophisticated, suave, and with a good dash of mischief, this thoroughly entertaining musical features a delightfully jazzy score and was nominated for eleven Tony Awards.

One of Rogers & Hammerstein's fines works, The King and I boasts a score that features such beloved classics as "Getting to Know You",  "Hello Young Lovers", and "Shall We Dance."  Set in 1860s Bangkok, the musical tells the story of the unconventional and tempestuous relationship that develops between the King of Siam and Anna Leonowens, a British schoolteacher whom the modernist king in an imperialistic world, brings to Siam to teach his many wives and children.

The ladies are back on the links!

It's the day after the funeral, and three women gather for a round of golf in honor of their recently departed play partner.  A mysterious fourth joins them, and so begins a raucous and rowdy 18 holes filled with secrets, surprises, confessions... and sex.

Pigs Do Fly Productions' production of The Ladies Foursome played to consistently  full houses when it ran at Empire Stage last March.  The show was such a success that the company has decided to bring the ladies back onto the (golf) course and let them swing again!  So if you missed it the first time, now is your chance to see what everyone was talking about!

In Catherine Trieschmann's critically acclaimed coming of age play, audiences will meet Laney and her mother, Elise, who have just moved into the Mississippi home in which Elise grew up.   This homecoming is no comfort to Laney, who turns to writing bold fiction and making out with a classmate  in chapel to ease her tortured adolescent mind.  When Laney pronounces herself a holiness lesbian, she sets in motion a funny and thought-provoking examination of the twists and turns inherent to navigating faith, desire, and relationships.

Nominated for six Tony Awards, and winning 2, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee features an eclectic group of sixth graders who arrive at a fictional spelling bee set in the geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School to vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter - one speller leaves! At least the losers get a juice box!

Old Jews Telling Jokes showcases five actors in a comedy that pays tribute to and reinvents classic jokes of the past and present.  It celebrates the rich tradition of Jewish humor "and all the rabbis, complaining wives, fed-up husbands, patience-challenged physicians, gossiping ladies and competitive men" populating it. The humor can be suggestive (sometimes even raunchy) as the 'Old Jews' make fun of themselves as well as followers of every other religion.
