Pi Ann Robison's garden, featured on next week's Azalea Garden Tour,
, is not to be missed. The diversity of her plantings is matched by the perfection of her hardscape, including this stack stone wall and pathway above, and the raised bluestone patio with pergola below. The entire landscape feels magical, as if you've entered a secret world filled with color and scent that flows seamlessly around her Masonboro Forest home.
Garden #9 (below) the home of Sue and Thomas Hunley, also charms the visitor. The azaleas are already popping around their adorable garden shed, and cheerful trees and flowers abound.
Thomas is a jack-of-all trades and undertook the installation of our paver "circle kit" last fall. Check out the gorgeous wood and wrought iron arbor, another example of his handiwork.
Six other private residences, plus three public gardens (Airlie, Harbor Way, and the Arboretum) are featured on this year's tour. Three "secret gardens" located in more intimate neighborhoods will be accessible by trolley.
Garden Tour Tickets
Stone Garden, and other local garden shops, are selling Tour tickets, good for all three days, at $35 each (in cash or a check made out to the "Cape Fear Garden Club"). Be sure to buy yours early as tickets are limited to 3,500 this year. Visit here for more detailed information and a list of ticket sellers.
Ribbon Cutting
The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Friday, April 5th will be held at this beautiful Forest Hills home. It's history is recounted in April's Wrightsville Beach Magazine, which also includes great coverage of the famous Azalea Belles who will fill the gardens next weekend. The Ribbon Cutting is free and can be reached only by bus from Pine Valley Baptist Church.
Paint Out
Plein air artists will be painting in the eleven gardens on tour and their work will be available for purchase on Sunday, April 7th at Harbor Way Gardens in Wrightsville Beach.
