WATER SUPPLY UPDATE
After several years of drought, the recent rains have brought some relief to the City’s water supply. The local rainfall measured in Azusa has been 27 inches (as of 2/26/19) since October, which is already more than the annual average for the whole year. The Azusa Canyon reservoirs are approaching capacity and the State snowpack is well above average, which will provide water as the snow melts.

Although the recent rains increased the San Gabriel Basin water table by 10 feet, it is still 45 feet below average due to the long term drought in California. Water conservation is very important even during wet years until we fully recover over the next few years.
Please continue to conserve water.
Approximately 27% of water served by the Azusa water system comes from surface water diverted from the San Gabriel Reservoir, 73% from eleven (11) groundwater wells, and less than 1% from Azusa's Metropolitan Water District connection. G roundwater levels at the San Gabriel Basin remain extremely low. (see News Release from Main San Gabriel Basin Watermaster.
