Every hour of the day, somewhere in the world a natural disaster strikes a community. In most cases, these communities are unprepared for any type of disaster or emergency; and consequently, there is greater loss of life and injury simply because business owners and employees are uninformed and ill prepared.

Police Services in conjunction with the American Red Cross and Sheriff’s Emergency Management developed a widespread emergency preparedness program for businesses to help them prepare for a disaster, regardless of what type.

The Business Simplified Action For Emergencies plan or B.S.A.F.E. is designed to promote public awareness in the Commercial Business sector. City Emergency Services staff members are available to make presentations to businesses, commercial and residential property management.

This 10-step program is a simplified approach to business emergency preparedness. There is no cost to participate in B.S.A.F.E. other than purchasing basic required survival supplies. All emergency preparedness literature is provided to businesses free of charge by Laguna Niguel Police Services.

All City and Police Services personnel are trained in the State-mandated Standardized Emergency Management System; however, in a major citywide emergency, all businesses must be prepared to provide for their employees and customers onsite for a minimum of 72 hours until emergency personnel can reach them. B.S.A.F.E. provides businesses with a proven preparation process that can be easily followed.

SCORE

The City and SCORE, a nationwide nonprofit organization dedicated to the formation, growth and success of small business, teams up to provide free business training workshops and one-on-one business mentoring. Visit SCORE's website for detailed information and local events.

Small Business Development Center (SBDC)

The Orange County SBDC's services include training, access to resources, and no-charge, one-on-one, confidential consulting covering business development, operations, marketing, financing, and government and corporate contracting. Workshops, seminars, and conferences are offered on a variety of topics including access to capital, traditional and online marketing, and sales.
