Health Ambassador Program


Do you like to work closely with your community and want to improve your community’s health? Apply for Broomfield’s Health Ambassador Program! The Health Ambassador Program is a partnership between community members and Broomfield Public Health and Environment. Together, we will make decisions about where and how health resources should be focused in our community. This will be done through a paid one-year agreement, where we will meet regularly to share information, plan and collaborate.

Colorado Law Will Ban Plastic Bags Beginning in the New Year

Beginning Jan. 1, 2024, the Plastic Pollution Reduction Act will ban plastic bags statewide. Stores may only give out recycled paper bags for a fee. However, if you participate in a federal or state food assistance program, the carryout bag fee does not apply to you. Simply provide your food assistance identification to the store and you can take a bag without a fee!

More than 500 Boxes of Narcan Distributed This Year

Narcan is a safe and effective nasal spray that can reverse an opioid overdose and save lives. Since June of this year, Broomfield's two free Narcan distribution locations have administered 526 boxes of Narcan to community members! 2024 License Renewals


Broomfield Public Health and Environment has sent out license renewal information for retail food establishments.


If your business received a renewal notification, it is important to complete the steps outlined in the letter by Dec. 31, 2023 to ensure that your business has a valid license to operate in 2024.

🚸 Youth Leadership Opportunity: Broomfield FISH (Feeding Families and Fueling Hope) is recruiting new members to join its Youth Engagement Squad for next year's term. The group works to prevent hunger and homelessness in the Broomfield community. Students in grades 8 through 11 are eligible to apply. Applications will be accepted through December 28.



🚓 Police Engagement: Help shape the future of how the Broomfield Police Department (BPD) serves your community! The BPD is conducting an ongoing engagement effort to listen to the community in order to understand what the department is doing well, identify opportunities for improvement and learn how the community wants to engage with police. Share your experiences, concerns and impressions of the Broomfield Police by completing a brief survey by March 15. Survey responses will help guide conversations during the community listening tour in summer 2024 and future BPD engagement efforts.

🌼 Spring Program Guide: The 2024 Spring Broomfield Program Guide Covering programs and events in January through May is available now. Check it out and discover all the great things Broomfield has to offer. Registration for most 2024 Spring programs begins on Dec. 7 at 7 a.m. For many programs, non-residents may register starting Dec. 21 at 7 a.m.
