This fourth annual series recognizes that Black history is American history. Through live blues performances and documentary films, American History Month 2026 explores how Black American stories - rooted in music, justice, and land - have shaped the nation’s cultural and moral foundation.


Each event offers an opportunity to listen, learn, and reflect through powerful storytelling and shared community experience.


Fri, Feb 13 - Oscar Wilson & Billy Flynn (Chicago Blues Legends)

Live Blues Legends Concert

A night of Chicago blues led by Oscar Wilson, whose commanding voice carries the legacy of a deeply American art form born from struggle and resilience. Joined by Chicago Blues Hall of Famer Billy Flynn, this performance honors the blues as living American history.

Film Screening & Discussion

This landmark documentary examines the legacy of the 13th Amendment and its direct connection to mass incarceration. Through history and contemporary voices, 13th invites reflection on justice, race, and the systems that continue to shape American life.

Live Blues Legends Concert

Renowned guitarist Kirk Fletcher brings a modern voice grounded in tradition. His soulful playing reflects the blues as a living American language - one that bridges generations while honoring the past.


Wed, Feb 25 - Seeds (Film Screening + Discussion)

Film Screening & Discussion

Seeds explores the ongoing struggle of Black farmers fighting to retain their land in the face of systemic injustice. A deeply human story of perseverance and resistance, the film examines land ownership, legacy, and equity as central chapters in American history.


Together, these events remind us that the stories we tell - and the ones we choose to hear - define who we are as a nation.
