To our unwavering community,
When I received news that we had to temporarily close again, a lot went through my mind. What about our staff? What about our community? What about our yoga practice? And that’s when the answer came to me. Closing the studio is a yogic thing to do right now. Most of us come to yoga because of the physical practice, which helps us prepare for whatever life is handing us. However, there are 8 limbs in our yoga practice. The first two limbs of yoga teach us about Yama and Niyama (the do’s and don’t’s with others and self). Covid-19 has taught us all a big lesson. It has brought out the best and worst of us all. Whether you believe that this virus is a hoax are not, one thing is for sure: it has killed an unthinkable number of people already. Maybe you think that it’s real but it couldn’t kill you because you are in great health. Even if that were true, what about your grandparent, elderly parents or any family members and friends with preexisting conditions? Could you live with yourself if you unknowingly gave them the virus and god forbid something happen to them? These are the questions that we should all ask ourselves because this is our reality right now.
While this is hard for all of us, my dad used to always tell me “after the rain, the sun always shines again.” What’s best for not only our community but also communities around us and the whole world right now is for all of us to practice social distancing and wear a mask. Remember: all this will pass and the sun will shine again. Hang in there! We will all be in the same room practicing yoga and/or pilates together one day. Just do your best with social distancing and mask up because when you do your best, its always enough.
I appreciate each one of you! Please take care, stay safe and I will see you in the Zoom Room.
