The May/June period has been the busiest for BAB this year. We responded to a number of interesting developments in the transatlantic policy space, including the resignation of the Prime Minister, and welcomed the President's second official state visit to the United Kingdom. We also welcomed a number of US delegations to the UK, including representatives from Senator Rob Portman's office and student groups from two American Universities. We had the pleasure of speaking to a number of news outlets during the president's visit on a range of topics, from the future of a UK-US Free Trade Agreement, to Huawei - You can listen to all of BAB's media engagement's below.

BritishAmerican Business Releases Policy Agenda 2019/20 - Time To Act
The Policy Agenda is BAB’s annual flagship policy publication, outlining key issues of relevance to the transatlantic business community for the year to come, such as infrastructure investment, the future of the UK-EU relationship, and ensuring workers are trained in line with our changing societal needs.
This years’ BAB Policy Agenda outlines three overarching fields with nine specific areas where action from government and regulators can propel both the UK and US economies towards a stronger, closer and more prosperous future.

BAB Attends AmChams in Europe US Conference
13 May
On 13 May, Emanuel Adam, Director of Policy & Trade, BAB London attended the Annual US Conference for the AmChams in Europe network, in Washington D.C..
Attended by chapters across the network, the annual meeting provides the opportunity for the various AmChams to discuss the current transatlantic policy landscape face-to-face, and to learn from one another best practices and identify scope for collaboration.

The Business Case For Strengthening Rule-Of-Law Across the Globe

BAB New York welcomed attendees to a roundtable discussion at the offices of
Lloyds Bank
on how the Rule-of-Law landscape is shifting and how leaders from corporations, law firms and NGOs alike are affecting this change, such as the “Private Sector Partnership for the Rule of Law” to coordinate the private sector’s promotion, advancement and protection of the Rule-of-Law across the globe.

BAB London was delighted to welcome Mark Isakowitz, Chief of Staff for the office of Senator Rob Portman to its offices in London this month, to meet with members of BAB and discuss the realities for US firms in the UK, how they are being impacted by Brexit uncertainty, and the prospect for a future UK-US trade agreement

BAB Welcomes Students from Clemson University College of Business and St Norbert College
17 & 28 May
On 17 May BAB welcomed students from Clemson University College of Business to London as part of their studies abroad in Europe to teach them all about Brexit and its impact on the UK's attractiveness as a destination for foreign investment.
Later in the month on 28 May, BAB also had the pleasure of hosting students from St Norbert College in Wisconsin, USA at our offices in Kensington, London. We spoke about Brexit and how businesses are having to adapt to a changing political climate.
Engaging with young people is one of the most rewarding parts of our work, and we'd like to extend our sincerest thanks to the students and faculty of Clemson University for taking the time to meet with us.

(CPS) for The Margaret Thatcher Conference on Britain and America on 25 June 2019
The Margaret Thatcher Conference is the flagship annual event for the Centre for Policy Studies. Held in association with the City of London, the event attracts Nobel Laureates (including, most recently, Dr Henry Kissinger), Pulitzer Prize winners, members of the British Government, and leading statesmen and women from across the world.
This year, to mark the 40th anniversary of Lady Thatcher’s arrival in Downing Street, we are examining a relationship that is as central today as it was then – between Britain and America. There's a fantastic lineup of speakers to hear insights from including:
