Welcome to BAB's Policy Update for October 2019. Not put off by the colder weather, we've been hard at work putting on some excellent engagements on both sides of the pond. Check out the 'Upcoming' section at the bottom of this email for a peek at what we've got coming up in the next few weeks, or check out our
Events page
online.
We kicked off October with an exciting meeting in London, where BAB and 15 of its members were invited to sit down with US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross to discuss how their businesses were adapting to changing economic landscape in the context of Brexit.
October also saw us launch our latest whitepaper - Moving the Bar: How the US and UK Can Help Create a New Level Playing Field for Digital Trade, setting out comprehensive recommendations for how the UK and US can lead on global digital trade and grow the transatlantic digital economy.
In London, we also raised a glass to the transatlantic relationship at our Annual Gala Dinner, where we welcomed friends and members from across our network to meet, network and celebrate those that keep the special relationship growing.
We also released a number of statements in October, welcoming the new Brexit Deal, and highlighted the negative impacts of US tariffs on imports from the EU, following a state aid dispute involving Airbus - check them out in the 'Statements, Press Releases & Media' section below

BAB Welcomes New 'Brexit Deal'
17 October 2019
In response to the news that a new Brexit deal has been reached by the UK Government and the European Commission, BritishAmerican Business released a statement welcoming the progress that has been made:
"
The prospect of a ‘no-deal’ exit was not in the interest of business, particularly the transatlantic community of major British firms and leading US investors that we represent. Every day that passes with the real prospect of a ‘no-deal’ makes it harder for businesses to make investment decisions which would benefit the UK economy, UK workers, and the transatlantic corridor."
