Welcome to the BABN’s April Policy and Trade Update.
The past month delivered some promising developments for our community, most notably the second US-UK Dialogue on the Future of Transatlantic Trade in Aberdeen, Scotland. As the momentum behind the transatlantic trade agenda continues to grow, we look forward to upcoming forums like the revived SME Dialogue and SelectUSA Summit in June.
See below for a recap of the policy and trade headlines of April 2022, as well as additional information on upcoming events in the Network.

US-UK Dialogues on the Future of Transatlantic Trade
25 April 2022
Last month, the second US-UK Dialogue on the Future of Transatlantic Trade took place in Aberdeen/Scotland. BAB and the BABN's Chapter in Scotland, the Scottish North America Business Council (SNABC), were among the stakeholders present, as were a number of relevant member companies, to take part in a number of sessions, covering digital trade, green trade, supply chains, and small business, among others.
In a statement issued by BAB, CEO Duncan Edwards stated how much our community supports the US and UK’s effort to enhance trade cooperation. Both Dialogues are a positive sign that the two countries intend to advance the transatlantic trade agenda and seek further alignment and cooperation on pressing trade issues, including sanctions imposed against Russia.
BAB also emphasized that it is important that the discussions and stakeholder contributions made at both Dialogues now lead to tangible progress and new joint initiatives. We welcome the joint US-UK announcement outlining a new roadmap for cooperation, and encourage both governments to maintain this momentum in future trade forums like the US-UK SME Dialogues.
BAB, in collaboration with key stakeholders on both sides of the Atlantic, has been a key stakeholder to these efforts. Following the meetings in Aberdeen, BAB co-hosted a small business reception, in presence of UK Secretary of State for Trade, Anne-Marie Trevelyan and United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai.
