It's been an exciting period in the Trade & Investment space for BAB, kicking off with the success of our 2nd annual Transatlantic Growth (TAG) Awards Ceremony, held in London at the start of May. We also launched our latest Policy Agenda for 2019/20 - 'Time To Act', which sets out 'Trading With The World' as a key area of relevance for the transatlantic business community in the years to come.

BritishAmerican Business Celebrates Transatlantic Trade & Investment with 2nd Annual Transatlantic Growth Awards Ceremony
In May, BAB London hosted its 2nd annual Transatlantic Growth (TAG) Awards Ceremony at the St Ermin's Hotel, London.
Startups stood shoulder-to-shoulder with household names at the ceremony, sponsored this year by HSBC and Virgin Atlantic/Delta Air Lines. 32 companies were awarded this year in the following categories:
- UK SME in the US
- US SME in the UK
- UK Launch or Expansion in the US
- US Launch or Expansion in the UK
- UK Investor of the Year
- US Investor of the Year
- Long Term UK Investor in the US
- Long Term US Investor in the UK
We were also delighted to be joined by a host of fantastic speakers and presenters, including

BAB Makes Global Trade & Investment Key Focus of Latest Policy Agenda 2019/20
BritishAmerican Business recently launched its Policy Agenda for 2019/20 - 'Time To Act' - its
annual flagship policy publication, outlining key issues of relevance to the transatlantic business community for the year to come.
One of the key focuses for BAB identified in the document is 'Trading With The World', setting out recommendations for the future of trade & investment between the UK and the EU, the UK and the US, and how we can modernise multilateral trade for the 21st Century.

Growing Demand from the US Helps UK Exports Grow to Record High
New figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that between April 2018-19, growing demand for UK goods and services drove exports to record heights o
f
£645.8 billion
.
Goods exports alone to the US were worth £57.6 billion, over £20 billion more than Germany, the second largest single UK export market for goods.
The US also accounted for over a third of the total increase in value of British goods exports (38.4%)

UK Government Launches New UK Inward Investment Tools
|
|
The UK Government has made available a number of tools and services you can use to help your set-up or business expansion in the UK.
The UK Investment Support Directory is a collection of companies that have skills and experience in helping overseas businesses establish or expand in the UK.
The service allows you to search the directory to find the right specialist to meet your needs. For example, find businesses with experience in different UK regions, UK tax and employment law, visas and immigration, or fluency in other languages.

Northern Ireland's Life Sciences Industry to be Boosted by Transatlantic Investment Initiative
|
The launch of Health Innovation Research Alliance Northern Ireland (
HIRANI
) took place in Philadelphia and was hosted by the UK Department for International Trade, Invest Northern Ireland, the Welsh Government, BIA, AstraZeneca and the British American Business Council of Greater Philadelphia.
HIRANI is a new collaboration between academic, local government, clinical and life sciences constituencies to deliver the health and wealth potential of Northern Ireland’s thriving life sciences ecosystem.
HIRANI will aim to act as a voice for health and life sciences, enabling the sector to promote itself nationally and internationally and
drive collaboration
and connectivity. It will also provide a single front door to external collaborators seeking to partner with the region.
