Monthly Newsletter
April 2020
Dear Friends of the BABC,

I do hope that you, your family, your friends and co-workers are all healthy and staying safe while we shelter-in-place to help “flatten the curve”. I also hope that cabin fever has not set in already and that you have been able to use this time to not only continue to work as best you can but also to spend some quality time with your immediate family or those with whom you are temporarily cocooned. In my house I have been banned from playing monopoly for the sake of family unity

Earlier this week, when I heard that the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, had been taken in to intensive care, it really drove home the magnitude of the COVID-19 pandemic and how it does not discriminate. Not only do our political leaders put themselves at risk every day as they work hard to combat the spread of the virus, work on financial rescue packages and communicate to the world all of the work that they are doing but so too do many people in the background: our health workers, delivery drivers, supermarket shelf stackers and cashiers to name but a few. We must all recognize the incredible sacrifices they are making and the risks they are taking to enable us to ride this out. A very heartfelt thank you to all of them.

Given the circumstances, the BABC continues to review and evaluate ways in which we can continue to deliver value and services to our members. We are looking at options for relevant virtual events as well as providing all of our Patron, Premier, Corporate-Plus and Corporate members with access to the BABC Digital Platform so that we can help with the promotion of their virtual events and webinars.  Until the shelter-in-place restrictions are removed we are also extending use of the digital platform to our Business Level Members as well. If you have information you’d like us to share with our community and social media followers, please let us know as we would be delighted to help extend your marketing reach.

We have also spent time this month speaking with our Charity Partners who, like everyone, are struggling with the effects of the Pandemic. These charities cannot exist without the necessary funding and many have lost their income streams as a result of major fundraising events being cancelled. If you are able to support any or all of them with a donation of whatever amount it will be gratefully received.

Finally, if you are a British Citizen in need of assistance due to COVID19, please refer to the Special Announcement below which offers you some resources in conjunction with the British Benevolent Society.

Please stay safe and healthy and let’s hope that when I write to you all again in May we will have some more uplifting news to share.

Very best regards,
Stephen Wares,
CGMA,
BABC President &
VP Business Development

We and our charity partners have identified 2 ways in which you can show you support:

1) Learn More and Make a Donation

2) SHARE (not just like!) our Social Media Posts to help SPREAD the word

Thank you for all that our members are doing to help our community during this unimaginable time, and I hope that in even if some small way, we might be able to have made a difference. #CommunityStrong
