Dear Zion Families,

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I pray this letter finds your family safe. The upcoming school year is quickly approaching. We have been very busy planning and preparing, and we praise God for the opportunity to serve your family this new school year.

The theme for our school year is “Trust God in Everything.” The theme comes from Proverbs 3:5, which says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” Only God knows and understands what lies ahead, so we need to focus on putting our faith and trust in Him alone.

Enclosed with this letter are many forms and information to help make our year together the best that it can be. Please be sure to read through it.

We will send an update on our reopening plans for in-person instruction, remote learning, and/or childcare services at the end of this week. With either scenario, there will be an installation of teachers on August 16th, 2020, at the 9:30 am worship service. You will need to RSVP for the church service prior to that date. On Friday, June 31st, we will also be sending out a sign-up to meet your child’s teacher and drop off your child’s school supplies at a designated time. You will also be able to pick up any books, materials, and iPad (if you need to borrow one) for remote learning shall we need to start the school year with that scenario. Please keep our staff that God has called to serve your family in your prayers. Enjoy the remaining weeks of summer!

Sunday, August 16, 2020 Students and parents drop off school supply and take picture and say Hi to Teacher! We will send out a Sign Up Link on Friday, July 31st through email and the Zion Lutheran Anaheim App. Please sign-up by Friday, August 14th.
School Supply List and
School Uniform Guidelines
Drop-off/ Pick-up Procedures:
Students will enter through their designated entry, where they will have their temperature taken, and then proceed to their classroom. Only students, not parents, will be permitted to enter the campus at this time. There will be indicators on the ground to distance 6 feet apart as students are waiting for their turn to enter the campus.  
Please enter the campus at the designated spot for your grade level. Signs will be posted. Parents will not be permitted on campus at this time, but please accompany your child until they have been and cleared to enter campus.
Kindergarten will park at rose garden and enter near the Sanctuary.
Grades 1-6 will need to park on Cypress street following the signs
Grades 7-8 will need to park by SAC and use the gate by the backfield  
After school pick-up will be at the same gate as your child’s drop-off point. If there are siblings, the younger siblings will be with the oldest sibling. Parents, please do not exit your cars. Your child will go to you.

7th Grade Students Tdap Booster
Tdap is required for all students entering 7th grade. 
A copy of your Child’s  immunization card showing they have received the booster must be brought to the school office prior to the first day of school.  (CA law—Assembly Bill 354)

Kindergarten Immunization
Kindergartener's must have an updated immunization record showing all shot requirements are met on file.
Field Trip T-Shirt
Registration Fee includes One Field Trip T– Shirt per child.  Student sizes are collected with re-enrollment information on RenWeb/Parents Web.  Sample sizes are available in the school office (no exchanges for incorrect size ordered). 

Additional t-shirts for students or parents will avaiable to purchased on the Zion App from August 1st through August 19th. Orders will be billed through FACTs. 
Prior to admission to class on August 19th, all records must include:
  • Proof of Birth (Birth certificate or baptism record).
  • An updated immunization record showing that all shot requirements are met.                                       
  • The CHDP exam form (State Form) A completed physical exam performed after April 2, 2019 for students entering kindergarten. New students must have one in the student’s file.                                              
The following is a checklist of requirements that must be met for
your child to be admitted to class on Monday, August 17th:
  • All past tuition fees, summer camp fees and remaining registration fees must be paid.
  • Office must have all necessary paper work for students prior to first day.          
  • All Families must be signed up for FACTS and First month’s tuition must be paid. First month tuition is due August 10th. If you have any questions regarding any Information, above please contact Alora Nadeau at 714-535-3600 ext. 401.

P.E. Uniform (5th-8th Grade):
Order P.E. Uniforms on the Parent Portal

Spirit Wear:
Order Spirit Wear starting August 1-19th on the Zion App. Sample sizes are available in the school office. Spirit Wear is available for Parents and students.

Field Trip T-Shirt:
Parent may order a Field trip T-Shirt for themselves or and extra shirt for your child. Orders may be placed on the Zion App starting on August 1st.

Hot Lunch:
Have you ordered Hot Lunch for August and September.
Parent Participation Hours
Your support is important to us. Families not choosing to participate in the 30 hours (5 per semester of the 30 hours at the Zion Thrift Shop) will be charged $10.00 for each non-served hour. Fees will be charged at the end of each semester. Eighth grade parents will be charged at the end of the first semester and at the end of May. It is not the primary intent of this program to charge families with fees, but rather to see families involved in the programs and activities.  NOTE: Participation hours for the 2020-2021 School Year will be only 20 per family.

Dear Families,

We would like to thank all the families who participated in the Scrip program this last year. You benefited Zion as a whole and received a tuition rebate as well. (When you signed up for the rebate program.) We invite all families to purchase Scrip and enjoy the benefits.

Scrip means “substitute money”, when you purchase Scrip you are purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. By purchasing Scrip you help benefit Zion Lutheran Church and Schools.

Receive Tuition Rebate!  For every $100 in Scrip you purchase, Zion will hold $2.00 in your tuition account. On your child's May tuition bill we will subtract the amount in your Scrip rebate account from your bill. For example, if your May payment is normally $450.00 and you have accumulated $200.00 in SCRIP rebates, then your actual May payment will be $250.00. The rebate period runs from April 2020– March 2021.  This past school year one family earned $316.00.

To get started use the attached Scrip order form and start ordering Scrip today and accumulating your rebate. Just drop your order with payment attached in any tuition box located in the School office, SAC lobby, ECEC office or Church office. Make checks payable to “Zion Scrip” and mark rebate designation, if no designation is marked then it will be applied to Zion's general fund. You may also purchase Scrip on Sunday mornings between church services.  We also are participating in the Scrip Now program. Families will be able to purchase scrip themselves, online, attached is the flyer that explain this program, how it works and Zion's enrollment code. Shop with Scrip now offers you to use a credit card to purchase your scrip.

Create the Scrip habit by purchasing Scrip weekly for gas and groceries. One of the great things about Scrip is that it does not cost you one penny more than you normally spend on regular purchases! Remember the Scrip program when making big purchases, like flooring, paint, furniture, appliances and home repairs. You can also have your family, friends and co-workers purchase Scrip.  Use Scrip for birthday, anniversary and Christmas gifts.  Join the Scrip program today!

Worship outdoors is still worship!

Worship is OUR response, as the created, to OUR creator.
It's not limited to a building. In fact as Paul tells us in Romans 12:1... "by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship."

For the foreseeable future, we will continue to worship outside on the lawn in front of the sanctuary in once service at 9:30am.
Combining some of the traditional liturgy with praise songs and hyms; we encourage you to invite your family and friends, bring your lawn chair (chairs are availble), blanket... and please don't forget to wear your mask, to join your brothers and sisters in Christ in responsible social distance outside worship!

We anticipate incorporating continuous communion going forward on the 1st and 3rd Sunday, but also remain avaialbe to provide "touchless"communion to you at your home. Please read below for further details about Communion @ Home.

Have You Missed Communion?
Zion Elders want to extend the opportunity to share in Holy Communion during social distancing.

We are hoping to do all we can by offering this resource for those that are unable to make it to church or just not ready to return to the church for physical worship and communion. We want you to remain safe and secure in every decision you make. 

In doing so, we would like to offer you with the opportunity for a home delivery kit of the Communion Elements, followed up by a call from a Zion Elder who will administer communion with you over the phone.
Once you're request form has been submitted you will receive a confirmation email from Google Forms. Zion will then contact you to set up a time to drive over and deliver the kit
to your home.
