Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Offers Scholarship for High School Senior
Bar Harbor Bank & Trust is pleased to announce the availability of a $1,500 scholarship for high school graduating seniors who are going on to college. The scholarship is for income eligible applicants who have attended a technical career program as part of their high school curriculum. There is the potential for 15 awards of $1,500 each. From qualified applicants, one student may be chosen per technical center in the geographic region outlined below. The deadline to apply is May 1, 2019. Applications are available at any branch of Bar Harbor Bank & Trust and can also be found online at www.barharbor.bank . 
 
Students residing in the following counties are eligible:  Maine  – Hancock, Kennebec, Lincoln, Penobscot, Sagadahoc, Waldo, and Washington;  New Hampshire  – Grafton, Hillsborough, Merrimack and Sullivan;  Vermont  – Orange, Rutland, Washington and Windsor.

Application requirements include a personal statement describing career aspirations and college choice, explanation of leadership and community service, high school transcript, and one-page scholarship application. This scholarship is offered by Bar Harbor Bank & Trust. Volunteers Needed for Special Olympics Regional Meet
Claremont has been chosen as the host site for this year’s Special Olympics Regional Meet and we are looking for volunteers to help with this event.  The day of the event will be Saturday, May 4 th .  Events will include swimming, bocce, and track and field.  The events will take place at both the Claremont Community Center and Monadnock Park.  Volunteers will be required to attend a training for their event at 8 AM and will need to be able to help with that event throughout the day.  The closing ceremonies are scheduled to take place at approximately 2PM. Any group or individual who is interested in volunteering, please contact Claremont Parks and Recreation Director, Mark Brislin by phone at (603) 542-7019 or by e-mai l .

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust First Annual Pet Supply Drive Kicks Off May 6th
Bar Harbor Bank & Trust invites you to participate in their first annual Pet Supply Drive from May 6 thru May 31, 2019. Collection boxes are located at all of our branch locations across Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont; more than 50 locations! Please visit your local branch and make a contribution of unopened pet food, litter, cleaning supplies, new toys and bedding. No cash donations are being accepted. All donations benefit local, non-profit animal shelters or humane societies. Want to know which shelter will receive your donation? Just ask a branch employee!

WordPress Workshop
Saturday, May 25th from 9am-4pm
SCORE is offering a full-day, hands-on WordPress workshop, Saturday, May 25 th  from 9 am - 4 pm at Franklin Pierce, 24 Airport Road, Lebanon. WordPress is the most popular online publishing platform for websites and blogs.
 
This course is a comprehensive review of WordPress and how to use it to build websites and/or blogs and publish your content on the Web. The workshop is suitable if you want to brush up on the newest version of WordPress, learn techniques, better understand theme installation, page and blog post publishing, adding images and video content, search engine optimization, and more.
 
“What makes this workshop hands-on is each participant will have their own workstation and work on a live WordPress website/blog,” said Gary Horsman, the workshop presenter who oversees Marketing at a Global Reach, a business development and Internet Marketing Company in Woodstock “This is a perfect practice environment to learn or brush up on WordPress where key concepts will be explained and demonstrated so participants can implement on the spot. There will also be time for discussion.”
 
The cost of the workshop is $300. If you want to bring a colleague or friend (and share a workstation) the additional fee is $150. There will be a one-hour break for lunch (lunch not included) and light refreshments will be available in the room for the morning session.
 
Gary Horsman  will be the workshop presenter. Horsman oversees Marketing at A Global Reach, a business development and Internet Marketing Company located in Woodstock, Vermont. He also teaches programs on search engine optimization and content marketing.

Claremont Opera House Seat Restoration Underway
Thanks to NH State Council on the Arts ($20,000), Mascoma Bank Foundation ($10,000) and Claremont Savings Bank ($2,000), the Claremont Opera House Theater Seat restoration project has begun. These grants will enable COH to repair the seating on 300 of the 519 seats in the orchestra level. The per chair cost is $100.   Many of the seats are stained from use over the years and the sun coming through the windows has rotted some of the fabric exposing the deteriorating foam. Other grants are currently being written to finish the balance of the 219 orchestra seats. 

The restoration is being done by Bartholomew Contract Interiors from Hartford Connecticut. BCI and David Eckstein were highly recommended by Friends of the Audi who recently restored their seating in Concord. The Audi awarded BCI with a Certificate of Excellence award. BCI is using a fabric very close to the original fabric and will be keeping the historical features, such as the under-the-seat hat racks of the seats, intact. 

Because the seats have to be removed and taken to Connecticut for their repairs, BCI will work around the COH show schedule. There may be some shows where there will be some seats missing. Sponsored by NHSCA and Mascoma Bank Foundation and Claremont Savings Bank, this first phase of the lower level should be completed by June in time for the annual full house for Jenkins and Stardancer Dance Recitals. When the lower level, which is showing more wear is completed, the balcony level will be addressed.

Concord, NH - The New Hampshire Land and Community Heritage Investment Program (LCHIP) announces the schedule for 2019 grant requests.
