Spill the beans: If it’s happening in your business, we want to help spread the word. Send your news and events to newsletter.tsc.news@gmail.com

At the picture show: A double feature showing of the Izzy Cohan directed "On the Hill and Downhill Racer" followed by a panel discussion of winter sports in Salisbury and SWSA's role in it at the Moviehouse in Millerton. There will be a raffle and SWSA merchandise for sale. Tickets - $16.00. Details at jumpfest.org.

Bundled up and powering through: Winter has arrived, once again, without asking anyone’s permission. It brings snow-covered roads, icy sidewalks, and temperatures that make us question all of our life choices—especially the ones involving leaving the house.

This is the season of extra layers, slower commutes, and that one car scraper we know we put somewhere last spring. A little planning helps: give yourself extra travel time, keep the essentials handy, and remember that “running late” is basically a winter sport. For businesses, it’s all about clear paths, clear communication, and a healthy dose of flexibility when Mother Nature decides to throw a tantrum.

The good news? Winter is temporary. Until then, let’s support local businesses, be kind to snowplow operators (true heroes), and agree that hot coffee counts as a coping mechanism. We’ll get through the cold together—one snowstorm, one warm drink, and one questionable weather forecast at a time.

Once upon a time starts with you: Calling all Writers! ASAP!’s Celebration of Young Writers (CYW), a program that encourages students across Connecticut to share their writing and celebrate their voices. Public, private, and homeschooled students in grades K–12 are invited to submit original written work for a chance to be published and receive recognition. Top-selected writers will have the option to present their work on stage at ASAP! Celebrates Courage on May 30, 2026. Submissions are free and open from February 1 – March 22, 2026.

For full submission guidelines, additional details, and examples of previously selected pieces, please visit asapct.org/celebration-of-young-writers. If you have any questions about CYW, please do not hesitate to reach out to asap@asapct.org.
