2020-2021 Membership & Donation Drive
We encourage all of you, whether current or lapsed member or friend, to consider donating to BALIF, joining BALIF, and/or renewing your BALIF membership! Like most nonprofits, BALIF has been financially impacted by the pandemic. Nevertheless, we have been able to put together extensive, timely, and unique programming for nearly every facet of our LGBTQI+ legal community, as detailed in our BALIF Year-End Review below. We also did all of this while extending free 2020-21 memberships to all BALIF members existing as of June 2020 as well as all new law student, recently graduated, and/or currently unemployed members. We will not be able to continue this great work without the engagement and financial support from members and friends like you. So please do consider donating at and/or becoming a new member or renewing your existing membership at!

Please note that all members who were on auto-renew prior to June 2020 are no longer on auto-renew. This means that all existing members will need to affirmatively renew their membership before June 2021 to continue their membership beyond June 2021 and/or be placed back into auto-renewal. What better day to renew than today?

Creating Attorney Referral Network for Sex Workers
Would you like to be on this list? What is your name & area of practice? How can we reach you?
Bay Area Workers Support is creating an Attorney Referral Network for Sex Workers. This referral list will be a means to connect sex workers with legal aid and attorneys friendly to sex workers. Attorneys informed to the specific legal challenges sex workers face are especially helpful.

We welcome any sex worker allied attorneys in any field and experience level. If you are interested in being on this referral list please fill out the form below. You can contact for more information about this project.

By filling out the information below, you are committing to provide safe and accessible legal services to sex workers. If you are not able to offer legal services in the manner, we will remove you from our attorney list. Thank you for being part of this Attorney Referral Network for Sex Workers.
Help Us Develop a New Model for Community Safety in Berkeley - Complete A Brief Survey
The City of Berkeley is looking to create a community safety model that reflects the needs of the community, including for LGBTQIA+ and QTBIPOC community members. It is critical that the City know our concerns about policing and crisis response to mental health and substance use, as well as what health and safety programs and services are key to our community safety. Your participation in the survey will inform the City's strategy, decision making and funding, including for planning to restructure the City’s approach to violence prevention, crisis intervention, policing, and community safety. We want your honest feedback and perspective. Your survey responses are completely anonymous and confidential. You can skip any questions and end the survey at any time. Only Bright Research Group, a third-party outside research firm, will have access to the survey responses. Bright Research Group will summarize de-identified survey responses in a report to the City of Berkeley. People who live, work and/or study in Berkeley can participate.

Let's Keep In Touch!
We are moving virtually these days and have hosted some successful get togethers, including the Lavender Graduation and Pride Power Hour to raise money for Aunt Charlie's.  Check out the  BALIF Forum for Pro Bono/Volunteer Opportunities and Suggested Donations.  We're in this together, and BALIF's Covid Response Team is here to help. Our "Covid Resources" on the website offers resources and community connections during these troubling times. Let us know how you're dealing with the outbreak, and if you have any resources to share with our members. You can reach us here:
Out of Work During COVID?
Remember, BALIF offers deeply discounted memberships for unemployed attorneys. During this time, we think community is especially important, and we intend to continue offering the networking opportunities that our members depend upon.
