This is a quote from Tom Deiters after he came to the BAM graduation ceremony last weekend (stay tuned for pictures further below).

Thank you, Tom, for beautifully expressing what so many of us feel. It is a special experience to witness the miracles that people from the community are able to create when they have people who believe in them and support them in their efforts to get ahead in this life.

There are SO many things we want to share with you, but we'll start by telling you about our Community Center Summer School Program, which has doubled in size since last summer!

Every day this summer, over 1,200 people have been coming to the Community Center!

Each day, 14 buses are filled with happy children excited for all the adventures that lay ahead.

In the morning, there are 700 children from preschool to eighth grade participating.

When they get to the Community Center, they are checked in by BAM volunteers.

There are 25 teachers and scholarship students running classes all day long.

They are learning so much!

The theme this year is learning about careers and planning for the future.

We have little firefighters and little chefs.

And we even have scholarship students teaching about professions, such as baking and nursing.

One of our previous college graduates, Talia, studied Law. She came to tell students what it is like to be a lawyer.

Every child receives a warm meal every day.

They get exercise.

And they have lots of fun!

At 1:00 all those children head out and then

350 adults, high school, and college students arrive for our afternoon program.

They take classes in Excel, Spanish, Robotics & so much more!

They are playing sports.

And they are learning trades through our beauty, baking, & sewing programs, just to name a few.

One of the most amazing aspects, is the education and leadership team's organization skills.

They plan and prepare the entire summer program and get hundreds to participate!

There are over 100 volunteers every day who help get kids on and off the buses in their neighborhoods and at the Community Center.

They make sure they get across the street safely.

They get them checked in.

And they help prepare food and pass out lunches to HUNDREDS of children every day!

These volunteers also clean the Community Center every morning and afternoon.

AND ALL OF THAT IS JUST SUMMER SCHOOL IN ADDITION TO ALL OF THE AMAZING THINGS THE COMMUNITY CENTER OFFERS ALL YEAR!

 And, the BAM community is continuing to build homes,

and surprising families with furniture.

CELEBRATING GRADUATES!!!

Last Saturday at the Community Center, we celebrated 50 BAM students graduating from high school

And 28 from college!

One of those graduates was BAM’s 100^th student to graduate from college.

We couldn’t do all this without the beautiful people in Mexico - and without YOU!
