June 2020

Library staff have been working remotely while the library has been closed. This past week, library staff have returned to the building to prepare for a phased reopening process. During this process, BAPL will be abiding by guidelines provided by the Office of Commonwealth Libraries.

Our first phase of reopening has been curbside pickup for holds. This commenced on Tuesday, May 26. The library building is still closed to the public indefinitely. We do not have a date set for when patrons will be able to reenter the building to use computers and browse the collection.

All in-house programming is still cancelled. Please monitor our social media channels and website for updates. Contact us directly director@bradfordlibrary.org with any additional questions regarding reopening. Thank you!

Thousands of books are easily accessible and only a few 'clicks' away! Visit Overdrive and download eBooks and Audiobooks. You can also download the Libby app to any device and take your library with you!
Curbside pickup is here! Patrons have three ways that library materials can be requested:
Join the library for another summer of fun and adventure. This year's theme, " Imagine Your Story," will have participants exploring folklore, fairy tales and mythology. Due to COVID-19, our program must be conducted virtually, but this will not negatively impact our fun or our workshops. To track your reading , log onto Beanstack. Pre-registration is now open and library patrons can track their reading from June 1 through August 14. The more you read, the more chances you have to win a prize! Adults can easily add all family members as readers under one Beanstack account.
Summer Workshops
To register for Summer Workshops, utilize this Google Forms link. The link is also available on our Facebook page as well as the library's website . Families can register for these workshops from May 25 through June 10. The workshops will be held via Zoom and are slated to start Tuesday, June 16. Workshops will begin at 11:00 A.M. each day. Tuesdays are for children ages birth to kindergarten, Wednesdays for 1st to 3rd grade, and Thursdays for 4th to 6th grade. The workshops will continue through August 13th and will feature a grab-and-go component, so that children can complete hands-on activities and projects while at home.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
The  1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge  is a library program that encourages all families and caregivers to read at least 1,000 books with their young children before they enter Kindergarten. Reading to your infant, toddler, or preschooler builds vocabulary, language skills, and helps prepare them with the skills they need for Kindergarten.  In as little as 15 minutes a day , families can build the skills for future school and life success.
Register:  create an account on  Beanstack  (Child readers are added to the parent's account.) Once you are registered, you can select the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge to participate in.
