Facebook Sued By HUD

Even though Facebook changed its ad center portal to limit categories available to target in the areas of housing, employment, or credit, HUD has charged on with a lawsuit. In the lawsuit, HUD alleges Facebook allowed advertisers to exclude certain protected classes from seeing some housing-related advertisements. HUD also says Facebook allowed exclusion of specific groups by drawing a red line around neighborhoods on a map.

Do Homes Listed On Thursday Fare Better Than Others? Yes!

A recent study found that homes listed on Thursday sold for $3,015 (.74%) more than homes listed on Monday (apparently the worst day to list a home in the MLS). Thursday homes also spend less time on market as compared to Sunday listings which spend the most time on market.

It is time to remind your CRM database clients and your sphere of influence that tax refunds are completely acceptable as down payment options AND to remind them that FHA financing only requires 3.5% down. This year the IRS anticipates an average refund of $3,143; a fantastic start of a downpayment. Last year Alabamians averaged a refund of $2,999 per filing.
NAR Fighting For The Industry

NAR President-Elect, Vince Malta, testified before the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs last week , regarding the REALTOR® position on Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac once the government conservatorship is ended. As an industry representative NAR is supporting the legislative outline drafted by the committee chairman, Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), because it would maintain the federal guarantee and put in place strong but flexible rules for overseeing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac once they’re no longer under the direct control of the government.
