The mission of THE BARD MUSIC FESTIVAL is “to promote new ways of understanding the history of music to a contemporary audience.” This summer, the festival will focus on SERGEI RACHMANINOFF AND HIS WORLD.  Six concerts, each preceded by a talk, will take place in the Frank Gehry-designed RICHARD B. FISHER CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS, or in OLIN HALL, another building on the campus of BARD COLLEGE. FRIDAY, AUGUST 5 - Travel to the HUDSON RIVER VALLEY from PHILADELPHIA. Enjoy a box lunch before arriving at BARD COLLEGE for a tour of the RICHARD B. FISHER CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS and the HESSEL MUSEUM OF ART at the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard. Check into the HAMPTON INN in Kingston. Dinner is included this evening prior to PROGRAM ONE: THE VIRTUOSO AS COMPOSER (L, D)
SATURDAY, AUGUST 6 - Return to BARD this morning for a panel discussion RACHMANINOFF AND THE 2OTH CENTURY. Two concert/discussions are scheduled for today PROGRAM TWO: MENTORS, RIVALS, PATRONS and later PROGRAM THREE: THE PIANIST COMPOSER. An early dinner is included this evening. (B, D)
 
SUNDAY, AUGUST 7 PROGRAM FOUR: RACHMANINOFF AND THE FEMALE MUSE is on the agenda this morning. Two concert/discussions are scheduled this afternoon, PROGRAM FIVE: RACHMANINOFF’S RUSSIAN CONTEMPORARIES and later PROGRAM SIX: FAILURES AND RECOVERIES. After this program, we depart for our return trip to PHILADELPHIA.  (B)

PLEASE NOTE: Six concert/discussions and one panel discussion are included in the cost. Some of you might want to relax at the hotel or enjoy some time in the charming town of RHINEBECK nearby. We will be most happy to deduct the cost of tickets for programs you do not wish to attend. Please request these changes as soon as possible.
 
COST: $1895 per person, double occupancy. The single supplement is $295. The cost includes transportation by deluxe motor coach, two nights at the HAMPTON INN in Kingston, NY, tickets to six discussions/concerts, a panel discussion, tours at the Fisher Center, and the Hessel Museum, one lunch, two dinners, buffet breakfast daily and taxes on all included items. SPACE IS LIMITED to 24 participants. Please mail a deposit of a deposit of $500 to EXCURSIONS FROM THE SQUARE, PO Box 2189, Philadelphia, PA, 19103. We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express are accepted for final payment for a small additional charge. FINAL PAYMENT is due no later than Monday, June 13, 2022. Full refund may be made up to June 13 less an administrative fee of $500. Thereafter, the cost of the trip is non-refundable..Trip cancellation insurance is available from EXCURSIONS FROM THE SQUARE. The trip will be escorted by a representative from EXCURSIONS FROM THE SQUARE.
