What’s on tap for this week? The Rusty Barn Show, AKA Phoenix Quilt, Craft and Sewing Festival at the Arizona State Fairgrounds at 19th Ave. and McDowell. The shows on Thursday through Friday are from 10 to 5, and on Saturday 10-4. When you enter, you’ll get a hand stamp which will allow you to re-enter the other days for no charge. If you haven’t been before, maybe now is the time! There are enough vendors there to fill two large buildings, and be sure check out BOTH buildings. The larger one is the Yellow building , and it can be very crowded and difficult to get through. That is why we choose to be in building 2, the GREEN BUILDING. This is the building where the classes are held! We are right at the front as you come across from the yellow building. Our booth numbers are 901 through 905, and we’ve had that spot for many years! Please come by and see us. We are representing Grace Co. with the Q’nique mid- and long arm machines, plus the various sizes of Grace frames. This includes the Cutie Breeze frame, which fits on a tabletop and will hold up to a 19” longarm machine, and complete a king sized quilt. YOU DO HAVE THE SPACE FOR THIS ONE IN NEARLY ANY ROOM! That’s why Grace invented this style of frame. Heck, if you have a spare sewing machine with a larger throat space, you can even put that machine on this frame. If you want to do your own quilting, we will find you a way to make it work!!!
Booths 901-905---I may mention this a few more times in this newsletter…just sayin’. If you’re like me and not a big cook, check out the soup and dip vendors there. They have all kinds of dried, packaged soups, and all you do is add a can of chicken or something. My fave is the chicken enchilada soup, and then the dill dip (you add the mayo and sour cream). I stock up on these, and then I’m set for the Super Bowl game and any time else that I need to warm my heart on a chilly day! They have samples there for you to try, also!
The shop will be in full operation while some of us are at the show. We will have our BERNINA machines here at the shop, and any show specials on any of the machines/frames will be at both the shop and the shop. You are covered where ever you shop with us!
Final day of the show will be Feb. 1, and Ditto-the-wonder-horse is beginning to lose her winter coat already. Be sure to check our class schedule on-line (www.sunvalleyquilts.com) or in the shop, because time is flying so fast and we don’t want to miss anything! One great class is Lynn M.’s two day BAG CAMP Feb. 12 and 13. We have all or nearly all of the byAnnie’s supplies and patterns for this camp, and we certainly have some fabulous fabrics from which you can choose. I find that your handmade bags tend to draw the most attention and comments, and that’s generally based on the fabrics you choose. We can help you in that department if you feel you want advise, and don’t forget that we have a nice supply of cork, Tula Pink neon fabrics, batiks and so much more. Lynn’s feature bag will be from the pattern Two Big Totes, perfect for travel and carrying any kinds of supplies. Come see the samples and select your fabrics before class starts.
That’s all that is on my mind, except a big thank you to the VALLE VISTA and the GOOD LIFE groups from Mesa who visited us last week—I had a ball talking with so many of you! You’re always welcome. This time if year is always a busy and fun time, with bus trips and mini-shop hops taking place, and all of us quilt shops thank you for your interest.
Because so many different interests are represented here at this time of the year, let’s make our special of the week sports and games fabrics at 20% off when you give us the code, 20SPORTS. We have fabrics representing pickleball, bowling, football, baseball, golf, tennis, cards, dice…..Sorry we have no bingo yet, but I’m on the lookout for that one, too.
We will be closed next Sunday, Feb. 2 to recoup from the show and get the shop back in order. But you can always find us online. Please have a great week, swing by the Fairgrounds and check out our booths and say HI! We’re always happy to see you and try to take a few minutes to chat!
