BARRIE COUNTRY CLUB DELIGHTS A LARGE FIELD

PLAYING IN THE pLAN TO WIN OPEN

BARRIE ON (June 08, 2015) - This week, the historic Barrie Country Club, was the site of the Plan To Win Open, hosted by Tour sponsor, Andrew Mitchell, financial consultant with Investors Group Financial Services Inc. One hundred and fifteen of our closest friends joined us for the 8th stop of the Tour Season, a testament to the quality of the golf course layout,] and fantastic conditioning the Tour has experienced at this venue, year after year. While Mother Nature may have played favorites today, as the Champ and A-Flights would suffer her wrath, the B and C-Flights would play under fantastic conditions, sunshine and perfect temperatures.

In the Championship Flight, quite possibly the most pure round of golf was scored in the Tour's history. Steven Wright (Toronto, ON) would finish one of those amazing rounds most players dream of, turning in a scorecard of 17 pars and one bogey, for a round of 73 and a four stroke victory. In second, last week's winner, Tour rookie, Tom Fraser (Scarborough, ON) finished with a round of 77. Rounding out the top three, Ryan Taylor (Uxbridge, ON) finished his day with a score of 78. In the Championship Flight's season-long  Myrtle Beach Order of Merit, Michael Alderman currently sits in top spot with 417.5 points, in second is John Harrington with 300 points and in third is Stephen Wright with 275 points.

In the A Flight, Wade Lunn (Brampton, ON) would make a triumphant return to the Tour, playing in his first event of the season. Wade would struggle out of the gate, sitting five over after seven holes but would finish with eleven straight pars, posting a round of 77 that would best the Flight by three. Alone, in second, Sentilar Sebastian (Toronto, ON) scored a round of 80. To determine third place, card matching was required, as three were tied at 81. When matching the inward nine scores, Brendon Allman (Scarborough, ON) placed third ahead of Mike Hubbs (Toronto, ON) and Dave Beatty (Brampton, ON). The A Flight's Myrtle Beach Order of Merit sees Mike Hubbs jump into top spot this week, with 365.7 points. Slipping to second is Darryl Scott, who has 335 points and, in third spot, Dean Weber has 286.7 points.

In the B Flight, Paul Inglis (Toronto, ON) would claim top spot this week, taking home the Plan to Win Open trophy, with a round of 81.Paul would go out and scorch the front with a 37 and work to hold it together on the back, resulting in him besting the field by three. To determine second and third places, card matching was required, as two players finished at 84. When matching the inward nine scores, Mark Rhodes (Orangeville, ON) took second while Glen Parsneau (Brighton, ON) took third. In the B-Flight's Myrtle Beach Order of Merit, Frank O'Brien jumps into top spot this week with 232.9 points, the slimmest of leads over Derek Peters who has 230 while Bruce Leman remains in third, with 207.1 points.

In the C Flight, a playoff was required as Christian Anderson (Barrie, ON) and Kyle Blohm (Bradford, ON) would both finish the day with matching 93's. The two would head to the eighteenth hole for a sudden death playoff. It would only take one hole, as Christian would play it smart to finish with a par, as Kyle would struggle around the green finishing with a double bogie. To determine third place, card matching was required, as four were tied at 94. When matching the inward nine scores, Bob Read (Toronto, ON) would score third place prizing over John Baty (Toronto, ON), Brian Nash (Scarborough, ON) and Mark Matusiak (Toronto, ON). The C-Flight's Myrtle Beach Order of Merit has Jay White leading with 372.5 points. In second place, is Robert Perri with 360 points and, in third, Mark Matusiak has 253.8 points.

Another one of the many ways to win on Tour is by Net score. Net score prizing is calculated across all players who did not place in the top three gross-scoring positions in their respective Flights. The top two net winners, at each event, will receive one dozen TaylorMade golf balls and one case of Mill Street beer. This week's winners were Brett Parry, with a net 68 and Larry Withyman, with a net 69. In addition to the season-long Gross Score, Myrtle Beach Order of Merit, players compete for a parallel, season-long, Net Score Order of Merit. For complete standings click on the link.

The winner of the closest-to-the-pin competition was Fred Snel, winning a dozen TaylorMade Project a golf balls. The winner of the Mazda Hole in One, closest to the pin contest, where all players have a chance to win a $2,500 sponsor product shopping spree, was Sentilar Sebastian. Along with these prizes, TaylorMade, Adams Golf and Mill Street Brewery products are awarded to the top 3 finishers in each of the four Flights. The Tour also awards a draw prize at each event for a $50 certificate redeemable at the Mill Street Brew Pub. This event's winner of the Mill Street Brewery Certificate was Matt Ward.
