This month, we are so excited to introduce the first Latinx voice in our Barrier Breakers series, the Rev. Oscar Rozo!

Rev. Oscar is not only our Diocesan Missioner for Latino Ministries, but also serves at the parishes of Trinity, Spruce Pine, Epiphany, Newton, and Our Savior, Newland. Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, Rev. Oscar's faith has long kept him grounded, even during a period of civil unrest in Colombia during the 80's and 90's. Now, having lived in the USA for over 15 years, he is seeking ways to not only support Latinx communities, but also form relationships between the Anglo and Latinx communities in this diocese and beyond. This is his story.

As Latino Missioner for the Diocese, Rev. Oscar works with Latinx communities all over Western North Carolina. Part of his work is also centered around creating connections to the Anglican community, from the Epiphany Multicultural Center to creating Spanish-Learning Language Selections for clergy. He is also passionate about speaking with members of the church about the Latinx experience, especially in WNC where many members of the Latinx community work as laborers on farmland.

Por su trabajo de misionero de los ministerios latinos/hispanos, Padre Oscar trabaja con comunidades latinos por todo a Carolina del norte del oeste. Un parte de su trabajo es creer conexiones con la comunidades anglos y latinos, por ejemplo El Centro Multicultural de la iglesia de la Epifanía en Newton y videos para enseñar español a miembros del clero. El tiene un pasión por hablando sobre la experiencia latina, especialmente en Carolina del norte del oeste donde muchas personas latinos trabajan como jornalera en granjas.
