BASIS International Ltd. releases BBj®, the Barista® Application Framework, and AddonSoftware® by Barista version 20.20. In 20.20, BBj's Custom Objects implementation has been significantly refactored to deliver both significantly improved performance and a smaller memory footprint, see more below. Additionally, this maintenance release also incorporates all customer requested fixes listed in the Fixes file and incorporates version 21.0 preview features. Download the released 20.20 today.

Lastly, critical fixes provided in HP-UX JDK v11.0.3 released in August 2020 now allows the BASIS Installer to work properly on port 6173 (HP-UX).
 
PeriodStrategic Quality focus Period
Back in December BASIS announced the launch of a Quality Focus Period (QFP) during which time the BASIS engineering and support staff focused primarily on enhancement requests, upgrades, and functionality that contributed most to long-term improvements in BASIS products, including reliability, usability, end-user productivity, and future extensibility. Though the QFP has come to an end, there are some trailing projects that are being completed in the near term with details to follow.  

The QFP endeavor was a productive time for BASIS that included numerous product enhancements, a few which are noted below:
  • Optimized Download Performance in ThinClient and Desktop Apps - achieved through  the following enhancements: 33079 - Remote Class Access supports compression for low-bandwidth network connections, 32674 - Added pre-fetching of resources to the remote ClassLoader, and 31687 - Split BBj Class Loaders into internal and external (customer) Class Loaders
  •  Noteworthy eLearning class updates:
    • Updated Barista Application Framework - CUI to GUI 
    • NEW Software Development Best Practices
    • NEW BASIS Product Development in BDT
    • NEW Digital Dashboard Updates 
    • NEW SQL from the Ground Up
    • Updated Jaspersoft Studio Basics class
