BAUDL sends students to a handful of national debate camps each summer. These camps provide a great opportunity for students to learn from debate experts, meet other debaters from around the country, and bring back knowledge for their teams.

The Annual Dinner is a celebration honoring students and their achievements throughout the season. The dinner is open to all students who have attended at least 1 tournament this school year.

Student Journalism Contest
Santa Clara University

Each year, the Journalism Program in the Communication Department at Santa Clara University and  The Santa Clara, the university's award-winning student newspaper, honor the best in high school journalism. Awards are presented in the News, Features, and Sports categories. They are judged by SCU journalism faculty and the editors at The Santa Clara. The contest is open to any high school student, and entries must be published in a prin t or online venue associated with a high school. Work that appears in a professional publication is not accepted.

Prizes: $2,000 - $5,000
Essay Deadline: March 24
Oral Competition: March 31 in Oakland

The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drum Major for Justice Advocacy Competition strives to introduce high school students of color to oral and written advocacy . The local competition consists of an essay writing contest & an oral competition and is open to high school juniors and seniors. Winners will advance to a Regional Competition, and then a National Competition in New Orleans for a chance at scholarship prizes.

The Kaiser Permanente African American Professional Association (KPAAPA) awards scholarships to students who demonstrate academic achievement, commitment to community service, and leadership potential. There are a few scholarships available this year, and each one has it's own requirements.
