March 2015 Newsletter
Legislative Update!

Tort reform is a major issue for our industry, and has emerging as one of the biggest issues in the 2015 legislature.  You should have heard by now that the Governor signed AB 125 (details), providing a complete overhaul of the states construction defect law.  But the session isn't over, watch for more info on other important bills; like SB 161.

Workforce Development

Let the Builders Alliance help you!

Over the past several months, we have been reaching out to local private/public organizations and the education community to learn what resources are already in place for workforce development.  We have been spending time in schools delivering the message that not only is construction cool, but it is a realistic, attainable and viable career choice here in Nevada.  We are ready to take the next step and this step involves YOU.  Specifically, we would like to know the following about you and your company:

-What specific skills / experience / educational do you look for when hiring?

- What positions do you foresee filling over the next 12 to 24 mos.?

-Would you be willing to offer internships, apprenticeships or on-the-job training?

-Would you be interested in joining us at various recruiting events?

It is VERY IMPORTANT that you communicate with us regarding this information. We will use it to spread the word throughout our communities and, ultimately, provide skilled workers for YOUR business. The time is NOW to develop a skilled workforce!!

You may send your responses directly to Pam Duxbury, BAWN Outreach Coordinator at outreach@bawn.org . Thank you!!
