Artist Notes: "This piece caught the eye of numerous people when I first showed it many years ago. In a way, “Follow Me” served as an early step in differentiating my art from others - who used the ocean and beach life as artistic elements - by creating unique coastal inspired art without producing the mundane (to me) sunset/sunrise splashes of often over saturated color prints that are frequently found here. Looking back on this work, it remains special to me not only because of the “mysterious” dark subject (Dena) that would reappear later in other work, but that landscape and wooden steps no longer exist as storms have ravaged this piece of Chatham over the years, leaving this special place unrecognizable to those of us who once knew this as a way to the beach on Morris Island."
