BBACC Connects
April 2, 2020
|
|
A Note from BBACC Director, Teri Doty
|
|
With school and non-essential business closures having been extended through this month, unfortunately, it is safe to say that it will be a hot minute before we are able to visit our favorite local spots. While the physical Chamber office has closed, our work does not end. We are adjusting to the need for a greater virtual presence and will be increasing our visibility online. Our ideas (and pots and pots and pots of coffee) are brewing! We are optimistic that challenging times will bring out the best in us. Stay kind. Stay safe. We are here for you.

A Request for Help from Bucksport Town Manager, Sue Lessard
|
If you are a Bucksport resident who is just returning from wintering in another state, PLEASE quarantine for 14 days after arriving in our community. We welcome our residents back and want to make sure that everyone stays as safe as possible!
There is no outrunning this virus, and if you have brought it with you - it will increase the chances of those here contracting it and spreading the virus further. Governor Mills indicated that signs were being posted at the entrances to the State informing people coming here that if they were arriving from States with significant COVID-19 cases that they needed to quarantine for 14 days. Tozier's market in Searsport is offering grocery delivery to Bucksport on Fridays, and if you are a returning resident from another state with high COVID-19 cases - please call family and friends but
do not
visit with them for 14 days. If you need supplies, those same family and friends can leave them for you without contact - and if you do not have a support network that can do that - call the Town Office Monday-Thursday from 7:30-5:30 and ask for Susan. We will help you get food and supplies delivered. I truly appreciate everyone's efforts to keep our community as safe as possible. We need your help to do so. Stay safe everyone. We are all in this together.

Rub your palms
And scrub their backs
Squish between
Your finger tracks
Grab each thumb

The IRS filing deadline for tax returns has been extended to July 15, 2020.
Taxpayers can also defer federal income tax payments due on April 15, 2020, to July 15, 2020, without penalties and interest, regardless of the amount owed. This deferment applies to all taxpayers, including individuals, trusts and estates, corporations and other non-corporate tax filers as well as those who pay self-employment tax.
Taxpayers do not need to file any additional forms or call the IRS to qualify for this automatic federal tax filing and payment relief. Individual taxpayers who need additional time to file beyond the July 15 deadline, can request a filing extension by filing Form 4868 through their tax professional, tax software or using the Free File link on IRS.gov. Businesses who need additional time must file Form 7004.
The IRS urges taxpayers who are due a refund to file as soon as possible. Most tax refunds are still being issued within 21 days.
"Even with the filing deadline extended, we urge taxpayers who are owed refunds to file as soon as possible and file electronically," said IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig. "Filing electronically with direct deposit is the quickest way to get refunds.
