" BOMBSHELL," sponsored ANONYMOUSLY
March 6-8, 2020
biography/drama

“Bombshell” depicts, with equal parts bemusement and outrage, the explosion that occurred when the women of Fox News Channel dared to expose the culture of sexual harassment that had prevailed for so long at the cable television juggernaut. More than a year before allegations of abuse and harassment against Harvey Weinstein would spark the #MeToo movement and crater his career, there was Roger Ailes, the fearsome TV news titan whose personal empire came crumbling down. Director Jay Roach’s film follows those fraught days during the summer of 2016, when “Fox & Friends” morning show co-host Gretchen Carlson filed a lawsuit against the former Fox News CEO and Megyn Kelly—the network’s biggest star at that point—came forward with Ailes harassment tales of her own.

Castine Historical Society Internship
For the seventh year, the Castine Historical Society is offering a graduate level internship, this year with an emphasis on photograph preservation and digitization. Students enrolled in a master’s degree or Ph.D. program in a museum studies, history, public history, or archival studies, may apply.

The internship requires a commitment of 35 hours/week for eight weeks and comes with a $3000 stipend.

This educational opportunity is a tangible means for the Castine Historical Society to engage with the fields of public history and museum work. Students gain experience with professional staff in a local history setting learning new skills and sharing their expertise.
The primary project this year is digitizing and preserving the photograph collections housed in the Grindle House office and storage facility on School Street in Castine. The annual program also involves the student in learning Castine area history and providing free walking tours along with local volunteer guides.

Applications are due by Tuesday March 24, 2020. To view the full internship description and application instructions, visit www.castinehistoricalsociety.org or contact Paige Lilly via email at curator@castinehistoricalsociety.org.
Huckleberries Card & Gift Raising Money for Bucksport Animal Shelter
Valentine's Day last year was very hard for Diane at Huckleberries Card & Gift. Her beautiful kitty, Sophie, lost her battle with kidney disease.

They had been together 18 years. In her memory, Diane is holding a fundraiser for the Bucksport Animal Shelter. Let's continue the Warm Your Heart spirit in Bucksport. Bring a 4"x6" photo (or more) of a beloved pet, either past or present to Huckleberries Card & Gift.

She will surround it with a beautiful red heart, along with your pet's name and display in the windows on Main St and Elm St. For each picture, she is asking that you donate just $2 to the shelter and she will match the first $100.

This fundraiser will end on March 31. Let's fill the windows with our furry companions that warm our hearts each and every day.

BRHC News
Message from the CEO Carol Carew
It’s finally March! Spring is on its way and the days are getting much longer. Reminder, we turn the clocks ahead early this year on March 8.

March is National Poison Prevention Month. On the back page, we have important information from the federal website www.poisonhelp.hrsa.gov . It is a good idea to write down the Poison Help Line number 1-800-222-1222 and
keep it on your refrigerator as a handy resource.

March is also National Nutrition Month. There is a helpful guide below. Reading nutrition labels on food containers is
one of the best ways to know just how much you are eating.

Most restaurants also have calorie counts on the menus. We have good news. We have opened our lab in Ellsworth
to everyone - patients and non-patients! Just like in our Bucksport location. This means if you need lab work done, come see us. You can make an appointment or simply walk-in. It’s hassle free and we take all insurances.

Be sure to come see us at the Ellsworth American/ Newspapers in Education Yard Sale, March 28, 8:00 to 2:00, at the Ellsworth Middle School behind Mill Mall. We are very excited to be sponsoring this year. We will have giveaways and screenings. Stop by our table.
