From Our Pastor
We are picking up a lot of great feedback about our CONNECT emphasis! So grateful for your response and support!

Last Sunday my sermon covered “Connect Where You Are,” namely, connecting with an unchurched or dechurched person wherever God has placed you. Below is where our series continues:

January 13 --
Connect Where You Live (Luke 8:38-39)

January 20 –
Connect Where You Go (John 4:1-38)

January 27 –
Connect When You Pray (Acts 3:1-11)

February 3 –
Connect Where You Work (1 Thessalonians 2:1-16)

Our Connect 40 Days of Prayer runs through February 9. Within these 40 days you are to prayerfully consider one person to connect with and invite to church.

Keep in mind the survey I shared last Sunday: 79% of unchurched Americans responded positively to this statement: “If a friend of mine really values their faith, I don’t mind them talking about it.” That said, let me leave you with what my evangelism prof used to say: “Unchurched people are more amazed at our silence than offended by our message! The only ‘failure’ in witnessing is the failure to witness, and even when that happens God still loves you.”

That’s enough reason to connect with those who need Jesus. So let’s get going!!!

Jim

P.S. If you happened to be out last Sunday, I would encourage you to listen to the message so you will be up to speed on our CONNECT overview.
It's Time to...
Tonight we will begin connecting with friends, neighbors, colleagues, etc. with the goal of effective outreach of prospects, the unchurched, and our own members. We will align our Wednesday evening format to support that goal.

Here's the schedule that begins tonight:
  • Supper begins at 5 pm
  • 5:45 pm, Preschool and Children transition to their activities which will last until 6:45 pm.
  • From 5:45-6:15 pm, we'll have "Focused Connecting" and put our connecting into action. After Carenotes and prayer time, we will go to various stations in the FH and Prayer Room (Connecting Points). On tables you will find:
  1. Cards to be written to prospects, homebound, those on Carenotes, notes of encouragement, etc.
  2. Prayers may be offered for specific outreach of prospects
  3. Prayers may be offered for our mission teams and for Christians in other parts of the world who are doing outreach (In Prayer Room)
Ministers and Deacons will oversee these Connecting Points.
  • We are dismissed at 6:15 but invite you to stay and "connect" with each other.
  • Choir Rehearsal begins at 6:15 pm.

Here's a simply delicious way to "connect" with those who visit our church everyday! The ECC serves over 150 families and of this number, there are about 35 families who are not affiliated with a church. We've invited ECC families to be our guests for dinner on January 23rd. What an opportunity to "connect", to welcome them, get to know them, and invite them to join us for worship and other activities.

Please make plans to join us on January 23rd for dinner and connecting. What better way to "walk the talk"?
