With this change in seasons, comes a most satisfying food...CHILI! With or without beans, this stick-to-your ribs, hearty meal rings not only of a home cooked meal...but CHILI COMPETITION!
Do you know a person who truly deserves an award for their masterpiece? Perhaps a local chili competition or neighborhood "chili-off"? We have a variety of ways to recognize and applaud those who strive to provide us with a dish that they can truly make their own.
Now, I must share a story...
The first time my husband made chili, he kept saying that he likes HOT chili...well, it WAS hot...I would not be surprised if a Carolina Reaper would be jealous of the scoville units in that 'memorable' pot of chili. Let's just say that a couple of spoonfuls was enough and that I think it melted the trash liner!
I am happy to report that over the past 20+ years, he has adapted and (almost) perfected his recipe. He still has the ability to surprise me by improving it.
